Subject: Warranty on Bike
Hello all my bike troubles continue. i was going to buy a bike from our Cops for Cancer Tour but found out there is no warranty. Is it worth it to spend the extra 500 on a new 08 and get a warranty or the 07 without one. I am not sure what the frames are like for the Specialized Allez if anyone has information as always it is greatly appreciated.

Its like insurance. You have it and hope you never need it.

How old is the bike? Check with the manufacturer about transfer of warranty and if the bike is more than 2 years old, it might be out of warranty anyways... Check with the builder.

I agree check with the mfg.

One thing my bike shop has said about Specialized is they have a great warranty. I'm not sure from your post or not if you are buying it from a shop and if you have a relationship with them. Relationships always help.

The bike is an 07 and it was through the Canadian Cancer Society that I am purchasing it from. it was used in the Cops for Cancer tour. Warranties are non transferrable but in an email I received lastnight I would be considered original owner so all warranies do still apply. So this sale will continue. I am so glad to as you know when you plan on getting something and it might fall through I was looking at other bikes then and was so undecided, but Specialized has come through on this one that is for sure.

Gonna say, if it is still a new bike, then the manufacturer should honor the warranty.

In my years of being in the business (5 years working in shops) it was very rare that a company rep. would deny a warranty claim on their product because the bike changed owners.  In fact, one of the few instances I ever had where a frame didn't get warrantied for manufacturer defects was one of my own personal frames, and that was because the parent company (GT) was bought out by Pacific and they were not honoring any of the old company warranties.  Basta-ds .......
