Subject: Anyone race the Desoto American Triple T before?
I was looking at this race maybe for 2009, since '08 is already sold out and well to be honest I am not ready for HIM yet anyways.

I looked for some race reports and didn't see many. This really looks like a great event and one that would be major challenging. 4 races in 3 days!

Super Sprint Friday night
Oly Tri Sat morning
Oly Tri Sat afternoon
HIM Sunday morning, but Bike, swim and run order

This just looks crazy, but fun and well I was wondering if anyone had anything they could share about the actual races.

How does one go about training for such an event?

Have not raced it before but I'm in for 2008.  You forgot to mention that there is unique in that there is a team and solo divisions.  In the "team" division some of the events require you and your teammate to finish together. 

 The Oly Tri on Saturday afternoon has a different format.  It starts with a Team Time Trial with drafting between you and your teammate, then the swim and then run.

 I'm treating the event as one hell of an epic and competitive training weekend for IMUSA.  I'm not doing any specific training for it other than including it as part of an overall 2008 training plan.

I've never done it, but I have two friends who did it together as a team and really enjoyed it.  Good luck!

I'm doing it this year. A friend did it last year, not only is it four triathlons in three days, it is over a very hilly course. It's a great motivator for my winter training. I'm using the 1/2 IM training plan, with a heavy concentration of hills on the bike.

I did it last year and am doing it again this year. I did the race as a Solo and it was tough but really fun. I trained with a Coach...but the synopsis of it was train for the longest distance and throw in alot of hilly ride, runs and also speed work for the shorter distances. I have a plus for this race as I live in Portsmouth and that is where I train normally. Ya' think I'd be faster but it is hard, conserving energy for all the races and not going out like a maniac and burning out.  You would love it.

I have not done it.  I may do it in 09.  We will see how my first HIM at Racine goes this year.   My father in law did it last year and is doing it in 08.   He really enjoyed it.  It was his first (2) oly(s) and his first HIM.  He is crazy!!!   A local pro (Joe Company)has a blog and he described his race last year and describes the race pretty well.  It is an interesting read.  The link is below.  BTW in the blog entry,  he talks about Jerry Donohue.  Thats my father in law.
