Subject: RE: Race in 5 hours, cant get to sleep God I should have stayed home, that was a TERRIBLE race. The directions were to the city library, but it turns out the race was 3 miles away. I didn't see anyone, but as I was starting to go home, I saw runners, so I parked and ran with them. Turns out I missed the first 3 miles. My itbs kicked in on my right knee at mile 10, but I was able to run the last 3 miles by keeping my leg pretty straight.
When the race was over my vehicle was still parked 3 miles away from the start/finish. I got to walk/shuffle run in the cold for 2 hours looking for it, still dressed for running (ie shorts and t-shirt ). Anyway, my right knee hurts to move now, I think I messed it up pretty good.
The lack of sleep actually didn't affect me in the race, I was able to keep about a 6:40 pace. On the 2 hour drive home though, I had to roll the windows down, and talk (and sing ) to myself to keep awake. I slept for 6 hours when I got home Now I am about to sleep for 8 more. YES
I think the only thing I can take from this is life experience. Don't go to a race in this condition, especially if you're driving. And make sure you have the correct directions! |
