I'm going to share a method I learned about on CrossFit's boards that is an idea that is much more widely used than CrossFit. I think Pavel came up with it/named it. It's called Greasing the Groove.

Say you can do 10 pushups max in a set and want more. You would do a sub-maximal set several times a day, 5-6 days a week. So every couple of hours, interspersed throughout the day, you'd do 6-8 pushups. Easy peasy lemon squeezee, as Renee would say. This way you not only get your muscles stronger, you also get better at the exercise neuromuscularly.

Edited to fix the methodology a bit.

another way for more pushups, and its a plan we used in the army to improve our PT test scores, is to pick a spot at home and everytime you cross that spot you drop and do the previously agreed upon number of pushups..........we chose 15 each time we left or entered our room.  worked wonders!

Astounding, isn't it? I guess the mechanism is more neuromuscular than just muscular though, so kind of interesting!

So if I'm doing 3 sets of 10 3 times a week. I should try doing 7-8 3x a day maybe 5 days a week?

Did 1.5 on my own today at the gym. Then did some more on the machine, plus some dips, which I can't do on my own.

I'm definitely doing these every day that I do strength.
