Elite 4504 Columbus, Ohio | Subject: RE: 2008 Races - Take Two - Distance Vs. Race Mix I'll play. This season I am going to race more and longer distances. Althought the majority will be tri events I do plan on running my first half mary as a separate event. My A race will be my HIM Aug 24 and the 3rd repeat of my first Sprint tri race. All others will be raced but at a B level. Last year was 2 Sprints and 1 Oly. This year will be 1 Half-mary, 1 Sprint, 2 Oly and 1 HIM. |

Expert 878 Carmel | Subject: RE: 2008 Races - Take Two - Distance Vs. Race Mix I dont have my exact sched down yet but Im racing more with shorter distances, exclusively olympics. I am doing more running races this year though as that is where I am the worst, and that is where you need to be strong in olympics. |

Champion 8540 the colony texas | Subject: RE: 2008 Races - Take Two - Distance Vs. Race Mix I'm doing mostly longer distances this year 2 ro 3 HIM's and one IM, then maybe a late season 1/2 mary all for the silly reason of all this talk of biking lots, running lots... If I'm doing shorter races I know I won't do as much so this whole year is being devoted to long zone 1& 2 training, to build that base |

Race Mix spokes - 2007-12-19 12:43 PM .....For example, my racing has evolved into mostly a mix of running races, with a duathlon thrown in here and there (I'd rather run/ride than spend time swimming) and some recreational bike rides. I've found that I enjoy half marathons and longer on the run. The dus I plan to do this year are shorter in duration, and I race them strictly for fun. Ever thought of doing a Triathlon? Aren't there any Running or Duathlon web sites where you can post pointless threads all day? |

Expert 1092 Earth | Subject: RE: 2008 Races - Take Two - Distance Vs. Race Mix My races are generally short races, as I don't have the time to devote to doing HIM's or IM's. I have done half Marathons, and I am planning a Marathon in April. Everything else will be 5K, 10K, Sprint, Oly or Duathlon. Last year I did a total of 29 different races. Most were 5K's but there were other distances in there as well. Several of the races were too close together. So this year I am thinking about backing off on a coupld of the races I will do. Skip some of the Wednesday/Sunday race combos. Or even better the Sprint on Sunday then race Tuesday night. |

Especially since 25% of your posts on BT are in COJ that is not tri-specific. Also I have learned an immense amount of information from individuals that only swim or run on this sight. That knowledge has helped this beginner be a better triathelete now and definately in the future. I would agree with you if it was lurkers that hang out and don't do anything but this is not the case. Spokes has been a great contributor, mentor, and a constant motivator to many of us new individuals and isn't that why this site was created to begin with? Enough said!
