What running shoes are you big Clydes wearing. I always worn New Balance or Asics, but never paid much attention. Now that i am training for a half I want to invest in a nice pair. I am going to a running store to check acouple of brands out but was looking for feedback. I have flat feet over-pronate and am a mid foot striker.

Thanks

I have had good performance from the Saucony Omni Grid 5's.  I understand the 6's are a little softer.

If you're heading to a running store, find one that helps you with fitting shoes.  That is, find one that will watch you run in various shoes and help you find some that work.

Sure, New Balance, ASICS, Saucony, and others are stereo-typically for bigger, over-pronators but other manufacturers may have something that will work better.

The bottom line is what fits you.

I went from a Nike 2:45 to a New Balance M767 on the recommendation of Fleet Feet after my fitting.  Now I am wearing a Pearl Izumi Synchrofloat and am happy with them.

Saucony Hurricanes and Omni 5's, I have a pair of New Balance 854s on the way though to give them a whirl. If I didnt pronate Id wear Asics Nimbus.

As a "big boy" I have a couple of suggestions: 1.) Brooks Beast. A little heavy but I've recommended these to several guys and have yet to have someone not like them. 2.) North Face Arnuva 50 BOA. These are the shoes endorsed by Dean Karnazes. I run in these and really like them. They last pretty good as well which is a concern for heavy runners.

Also, If you haven't seen it, check out Dean's web site www.ultramarathonman.com .... unreal....

X2 on the Beast. I have three pair that I interchange.

Asics Gel Kayano. Best shoes for the "big guys" out there.

I used the Brooks Beast for a few months. Thought they were way too stiff and way too heavy at the end of the day and switched back to Kayano's. I've become very loyal to these shoes.

If you have a Fleet Feet near you, I highly recommend checking them out. They are usually very good at looking at your gait, how you stand, and recommending a shoe that works well for YOU. Definetly worth the extra $$$ to get comfy shoes.

If the Brooks Beast is a bit too much, try the Addiction.

I've had a couple pair, with good experiences. They're built for support, and not as heavy as the Beast.

I've also liked the NB 122x and the Mizuno Wave Renegade. Both supportive and cushioned.

I have a narrow heal. The Addidas Super Nova cushion has been my choice for the last couple years. But a good running store will analize your walk/run and then fit you. They should let you go for a short run outside the store, too.

I have quite a wide foot and surprisingly the Nike Zoom Air Structure mens fits me perfectly.

I slightly over pronate, so they take care of that, and I think it comes in even wider sizes now. I didn't try on the womans sizes I don't know if they were just out of them or if my fitter thought the width wouldn't be right, but I've been fairly happy with them, and they fit my Nike+ chip to boot.

I have wide long feet (Size 15) and weigh about 240lbs: I've tried Brooks and felt I had concrete blocks on my feet; I then discovered the beauty of Asics Gel Kayano - I have worn them for a number of years and I don't see myself ever changing.

If you are an o/pron etc. make sure you get gait analysis. I didn't and ruptured my Achilles! All that weight and a little bio-mechanical problem adds up over the years.

Best of Luck!
