Eric - good to hear from ya!  Hope you find out for sure what the problem is.  I had the same issue last year going from specialist to specialist trying to figure out why I got a blood clot.  End result:  NO ONE HAS A CLUE!!!!!  Oh well - like one of the hematologists said, "if there was anything to be worried about you'd have died from an embolism by now."  So I didn't got back to THAT guy!

Best wishes on a speedy recovery and keep us posted!

Eric!!!  Great to hear from you.  That's got to be a bit of a relief to have a plan of action medically.  Hope you can relax a bit about it now.

Re: going back to school, that's great too!  I have thought about teaching, though I'll admit much of the attraction is having summers off to work on the house/travel/train.  I changed careers after 3.5 years of practicing law and am now much happier in the mortgage biz.  Good luck with your changes!

This is a cut and paste from my blog re: this weekend:

Flying to Cali tonight for Wildflower.  Am I ready to race?  Hells no.  But, we'll have fun anyway.  Forecast is for a high around 60, and I'll be done racing by the time it gets there.  Looks like I'll be pulling on arm warmers in T1!

Need to keep my mental game together for the weekend.  A couple times now I have not taken races seriously and it always comes back to bite me.  Goals for this weekend:

  • Focus day before and morning of race
  • Swim strong and draft as much as possible
  • Take it easy on the bike (hilly course and I over did it last year.  Packed my 27 tooth cassette this year vs 23 last year so that should help!)
  • Give it all I've got on the run--no crossing the finish line and feeling I left something out there
  • HAVE FUN!

That's all I got.  I'll be rockin' the Donkai colors on Sunday!

Got my race report up.  Was shooting for a top 10 and got 9th so I won't complain.  I know I need to focus on my swimming now.  FOR SURE!

Unfortunately another competitor didn't make it out of the water.  Local authorities are still unsure of what caused his death but he was unconscious as he was pulled out of the water.  Thought and prayers go out to him and his family!

I've been remiss in keeping up on blogs and stuff here the last few weeks.  Trying to settle wedding details (23 days!!!) and travelling to Cali to race have taken most of my free time.

On that note, I had a solid race at Wildflower, cutting about five minutes off my best time for that course.  Weather was great, had a blast with my fam, and as always enjoyed a really well run event in an awesome location.  Now, if I could just make a few minutes to finish my race report...

All,

Sorry for being absent lately - lots of outside "things" going on.  But I think I'm back now.  Just had a race today that was a "c" race....well, more like an "E, F or G" race.

Was OK but I think I want to turn my focus towards a longer distance in October.

I'll import one of the programs here.  But does anyone have anything with more details for an Oly?  IE most of the plans on BT just say "run 35 min, swim 25."  That tells me "jack" and "squat."
