Elite 2863 | Subject: IMWI Course Ride & Run : May 24-25 Birkierunner beat me to the punch. This is by no means meant to undermine his BT mini-camp. I would love to join a group his weekend but it's the same as IMKS 70.3, so I'm out. Would anyone like to join me on a Bike Course ride, 40 mile loop x2, on Saturday May 24th. We would start from Fireman's Park, which is where the 40 mile loop begins, then ride the loop once or twice. Then, on Sunday May 25th I plan to run the Madison half marathon. Anyone is welcome to join me. I hope to average 16-18 MPH for the ride.....as long as I don't get lost. (hence the reason I'm looking for people to join me). |

Seriously. actually, if I was getting ready for a 70.3, riding on Sat and doing a half marathon on Sunday would be a good weekend training strategy |

I really don't want to be stuck wandering the countryside of rural Wisconsin by myself. Madison is a 6+ hour drive for me, so coming up twice in a 3-week period does not sound do-able. I'll wait to see how many people are able to ride on May 24th. |

That's good news. I have no idea how well the signage is in this area. I can only reference the rural area I train on long days and even with a street by street map you'd get lost if you weren't from around here. A lot of the intersections don't have signs and some have more than one name. I'll still consider riding alone. It would be a much better ride if I could just "go" and not worry about checking a map constantly. I've heard there's 80+ turns on the WI course. |

Doing the bike before a mary is a little different than doing the 1/2 mary. I'm thinking that I would be overdoing it. |

Do you have it in a form that can be emailed? yeah....if you're running the Madison FULL marathon I think you'd be over-doing it. |

How's this - http://www.ironmanwisconsin.com/bike.html or the PDF - http://www.ironmanwisconsin.com/images_course/wisbike.pdf It's a hilly, challenging ride, but fun! |

No way to get lost? Are you crazy Jim? I just looked at the map and if I tried to ride that course on my own in May I might find my way back in time for the actual event in September. |

Extreme Veteran 475 Tampa, FL | Subject: RE: IMWI Course Ride & Run : May 24-25 I rode the course this past September, and seem to remember 1 or 2 turns where there wasn't a road name sign posted. Luckily, it was the day before the race and the course was well marked with bright orange arrows. There definitely are a lot of turns though, and it was a little bit of a pain to have to keep pulling out a map/ directions. Unfortunately I live in Tampa, so I don't think I can afford to fly up there again to ride the course before the race. |

Veteran 285 Broomfield, Colorado | Subject: RE: IMWI Course Ride & Run : May 24-25 In my experience, if you are riding the course on a weekend anytime between April and September, you probably need to just follow the other cyclists to avoid getting lost. That course is awfully busy, with IM prep, as well as locals out riding. It's crazy busy all summer long. |

Veteran 249 | Subject: RE: IMWI Course Ride & Run : May 24-25 If it comes down to it I'll drive the course with you when you come up. I don't know what kind of pace I could actually ride it, not planning on doing IMOO until 2009, need to get my bike legs under me this spring. I've driven the bike course and know the area fairly well. We can discuss when it gets closer to that point, I'm only 20 minutes from Madison so it's no big deal. robert |

Right now I'm trying to see how I can make the June 8-10th weekend with the other BT'er work. |
