Here's the latest from Brooke at Gu Sports:

Hi Bill,
We sent out one round of acceptances and will send more next week, as well as our non-acceptances. We've chosen to stagger them due to our ability to process them internally, but all applicants will be notified one way or another by 1/25/08. So please stay tuned!

Anyone else concerned about sending all of your credit card info via fax or email?

Nah ... given the advent of on-line purchases you are more covered than you think.

I sent mine in last night and did not give it a second thought.

Fax is generally pretty safe, because the bad guys would actually have to do something like read and transcript all of the numbers from the fax. The bad guys don't want to do that much work, for what is a pretty slim payout.

I would be concerned about e-mail though. Bad guys LOVE writing an algorithm to look for credit cards information in text and then just plowing through lots of e-mails quickly.

So do the Team Javelin emails follow shortly? And then what do people do if they were picked for both?

You should never send credit card info over e-mail.  E-mail over the internet uses SMTP which is cleartext.

Sorry to sound so IT geeky, but I spent the last 6+ months working on PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance here at work.

Another 2nd year member here too.....is it just or me or does it seem like BT is extremely well-represented.  I think the email said that 300 people were selected.  I kind of wonder if the numbers are really that small.  I enjoyed last year's team membership too with the pro deal prices on stuff like the gelbots and extra gu.  I wasn't all that impressed with the tri shorts top last year but those were 2xu and this year is zoot.  Interested to see what changes.  Congrats to everyone who got in.

I'm thinking it's in February that correspondence usually starts. If you were in previous years, then you're automatically in again, just log in and fill out the renewal form.

For new applicants I really don't think Javelin has ever refused anybody, but I do know, for the past two years, there have been applicants that got their applications in late  i.e. late spring/early summer and although they were "officially" on the team, Javelin had run out of certain sizes of team uniforms, so they were SOL for getting the $25 Sugoi suit (but they also didn't have to pay the $25 fee, either).

FWIW, those Sugoi suits are head and shoulders the most comfortable on the planet.  I'm gonna pony up the $25 again this year to get another one.

X2

Last year they allowed me to buy an additional 2 pc suit for $45 because they had additional suits left over from the 2006 season (different colour), so I got two singlets and two tri shorts for $70. I'm hoping they offer that again this year.

Best. Tri. Shorts. Ever.

They also have great Sock Guy cycling socks that have the Javelin logo on the ankle cuff and printed along the side is "Nothing flies like a Javelin" in script - I think they were only $6 a pair, but you'll need to order directly through Javelin bike. That is, if you want to be like Fred

Still no word here.  I'm starting to think I got passed over despite being on the team last year.  WTF?  Oh well, thankfully I have 5 cases of GU leftover from last year's point redemption!

No, but there is a new Canadian Team Nathan for 2008 and Gu is one of the sponsors; for multisport, adventure racers, cyclists and runners:

I posted more info in a new thread.
