I thought it might be good to see how many times we can circumnavigate the globe in a Kevin Bacon style degrees of seperation.
My idea is that you reply to the previously last replier giving some kind of tenuous link to their location. The idea for this arrises from a reply in another thread from dontracy where he told me that his step son is doing a student exchange program in Edinburgh. I hope he has a great time Don.

I should probably put down a few rules, so here goes.

1/ The link can be as tenuous as you want it to be.
2/ The tenuous link should lie within an olympic triathlon distance (let's call it 51km or 32 miles). In otherwords Don's link above is to Edinburgh and I stay in Stirling, unfortunately Edinburgh is about 37 miles - just too far, sorry Don.
3/ Anyone can amend the rules

This is a fun idea! Unfortunately, I can't think of a link close enough to you. I'll be watching this thread and hopefully I will be a link in the chain at some point.

Acouple of near misses. I've checked the distances using www.theaa.com/travelwatch/inc/planner_main_redirect.jsp.

Nardini's is a great ice cream shop - but unfortunately is 59.6 miles away.
Merchiston Castle School is in Colinton in Edinburgh but it's 37 miles away.

Crossing the pond is easy. If Don's step-son's school was 5 miles closer then we'd be in Philadelphia. The trick is rule 1 - "the link can be as tenuous as you want it to be"

I've driven through Nevada on my way to California - the San Franciso Bay area and Oakland. I stayed at hotel in Elko that was owned by the mother of my ex-boyfriend's childhood friend. (Is that tenuous enough for you?)

For the next person I have lived in Colorado Springs, Chicago, St. Joseph Mo., (near Kansas City) traveled to Mexico, Lima, Peru, basically all the 50 states including the Grand Canyon, both oceans, Canadian border and Texas. So have fun.

Lived in Chicago most of my life, though I was born in Ireland. But my favorite place to travel to has got to be Maine, just because I love lobster so much. But Key West Florida is not so bad, considering I am getting married there in 2 weeks!

I used to go White water rafting every summer on the Arkansas River outside canyon City Colorado. We would stop and grocery shop in Colorado Springs before heading out to the campground.

My boss had a professional quality raft and me, his daughter and one of her friends went as guides and labor. He would take groups of people that hadn't camped before or really been outside.

If that's tenuous enought I have lived in Youngstown and Columbus OH, Milwaukee WI, Terre Haute and Evensville IN before moving to NC

I've been to Cairo as well (even spent 8 hours in an "interview room" at Cairo International, but that's another story).

I've lived in NJ, VA, FL, TX, and NC. I was an exchange student in Hannover, Germany. I have also been to Spain (Rota, Puerto de Santa Maria, Jerez, Cadiz, Barcelona), Andorra, France (Marsailles, Paris), Switzerland, Austria, Italy (Rome, Naples, Brindisi, Sicily), Malta, Greece (Corfu, Crete), Albania, Kosovo, Romania (Constanta), Ukraine (Odessa), Turkey (Marmaris, Istanbul), Israel (Haifa, Jerusalem, Baer-Sheeba), The Azores, Canada, Mexico, and Jordan. I'm sure I'm missing a few places...

I'll jump off Stake's post .... I've been to many of the same places .. but I'll use Baer-Sheeba as my jumping board!! Worked on a moshav nearby in 1988 - Ne'ot Hakikar in the Negev desert. Baer-Sheeba was where we went to blow off steam!! So let me throw in a few other places and see if anyone bites.  Grew up in two small towns .. Greenwood Nova Scotia, and Stittsville, Ontario.  Travelled through may countries .. I'll put down ones not on Stake's post ... Denmark (particularly the island of Lolland), greek islands of Ios and Santorini, and how about Alaksa .... driving up thru every small town in northern BC!!! Anybody????

OK, Katie, here goes:

I was born and raised in Baltimore, and it's southern suburbs. I lived in Va. Beach for 4 years, while deployed onboard CV-66 USS America, from Norfolk Naval Base. I now live 20 miles, and work 10 miles away from Duke.

I have also lived in Memphis, Pensacola, and Rochester, MN. My navy travels took me to Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Singapore, France, Monaco, England, US Virgin Islands, Italy, Greece, Israel, The United Arab Emerits, and the Azores. That should be enough for someone else to work from...LOL

Pooh Bear, I have driven to all 48 continental States, but not yet Alaska. I'm planning a drive to Denali National Park for summer of 2006 or 2007.

I have been to many States (CO,CA, OR, WA,MT, SD, ND,NE, NV,TX,LA,IA,MO,KS,NY,NJ) also, Toronto, Canada, Cozumel, Mexico and the virgin islands. If it helps, my dad has been a lot of the major cities(i.e. Paris, London, Rome, etc) if that is a tenuous enough thread!

OK, Midge...
I went to Minneapolis for Christmas shopping about a month ago. Lovely town.
I grew up in Winnipeg, Canada but have also lived in The Pas, MB.
Tough ones, eh?
I have travelled recently to Memphis, TN, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver. Hopefully that simplifies things a bit.

I once spent the night in Memphis, courtesy of an airline that bumped me from a flight. From there I went to Miami, and then on to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. From there I traveled to the tiny Honduran village of Agua Fria, and "Tiger Island" in the Gulf of Fonseca
