Enders- I use shakes for two of my meals a day, breakfast and afternoon snack. Muscle milk light has 195C/25P per serving so it helps me to maintain my caloric intake.

March goals: current 205, month end 193. Twelve pound loss.

I seem to have the dress. I think I like it but I need to show it to my "shopping support group" to get rid of some doubts which, as I know myself, might be just me being paranoid about my look.
Didn't make it to the gym today though but no excuses tomorrow.

Now a question: I'm thinking more and more about my first Sprint. I know it'll be in the Summer (not decided when exactly- work/holidays issues) but I'm also getting stressed about it. You know kind of exam stress thing even though I'm trying to be realistic about how I'm gonna do- I only hope I wouldn't be the last one. Do you/ did you also feel like that? I don't think it's the right set of pre-race emotions especially if the race is 4 months or so away.

Need a good week this week after the total debotchery I did to myself for the last 3 days in Vegas.

Ooh the beauty of leaving Michigan and its 18 degrees and getting 6 in of snow to go and play in the 75 degrees with a nice breeze weather of Vegas.

Thankfully, I haven't started stressing like that but that's not to say that I won't get some jitters as my race gets closer. I've always had only one goal for my race...to FINISH.

You two,

Sure winning a race is awesome (not speaking from experience) but maybe if you put into perspective what the event is supposed to measure. It measures a level of fitness, so unless you're crawling with two broken legs (very inspirational) I know you guys will do very well. Even if you're last at least you know now, before the race, that you'll finish, which testifies that you had fun, worked hard before and during the race, and that you could do it again if need/want be. Since your not going pro, don't worry so much about where everybody else is, concentrate on where you are now, where you need to be, and addapt accordingly. Team skinny is behind you guys all the way!!!!!!

I have been going to a chiropractor for various issues for the last 15 years. The most important thing is to find a good chiropractor. The problem is that unless you can get a referral from someone you know, it's almost like a crap shoot to find someone you like. When I moved to Illinois, I had to leave my chiropractor back in Texas that I loved. Trying to find a good chiropractor that doesn't charge an arm and a leg has been a 7 year battle for me. I had a so-so one for a while and he sold his practice.

And finally, after 7 years of searching, I have found an awesome chiropractor. He spends quite a lot of time massaging the sore spots out. He doesn't feel the need to be extra rough on me when he's adjusting me and he takes time to listen when I'm telling him what's going on. My plan is to go to him once a week at least until my race.

Have you ever been to a chiropractor before?

Ceade:  I146Q (Josh) was right on!!  I worried about that last thing and ended up 3rd in my age group (3 of 3).  I am definitely MOP, but as someone in one of my Tri's explained to me when I was moping about being that far back "You talk to everyone you pass and always have a smile on your face".  I guess I need to quit having fun if I cared about placing higher.  Nope,  I have decided I will have fun and enjoy the journey.

Hi, I'd like to join your group - If you'll have me

Here is my story:

I am currently recovering from quite a debilitating skin condition (It's amazing how much you value your feet once you can't use them!) I was barely able to walk for two years. During that time my best friend did a sprint triathlon and LOVED it. I told her that once I'd sorted my skin out that I would do one with her. So I found myself on Saturday at the start line of the Kapiti Women's triathlon. I'm afraid that I didn't do terribly well, but it was an AMAZING experience, I loved every minute of it, the training (well, maybe not going for runs at 5am) and the event. Sarah Did the Tri with me and we are both entered in another sprint tri on the 30th of March. Can't wait!

Having not been on my feet for a while, I have quite a lot of weight to lose. I currently weigh 281.6 Lb.
My goals for this month are:

lose 5Lb,

run 5k nonstop (I don't care how slow I am, I can currently run 3K nonstop)

Anyway, thanks for considering my application ;-)

75 in Richmond VA today...just thought I'd share.

The real question is what the heck I was doing inside on such a beautiful day...

Happy Monday night, skinnies! (I, BTW, am eating everything in sight. I'm on a hormonal/uber-stress binge. Please be nice to me on Wednesday.)

I do, once a week. I am not sold on it at all but with my wifes insurance I can get an adjustment and a  45 min massage for $10 so I go there every week.

No app. needed. You're doing a lot better than, I think you realize. I looked at your log and post race report. You're doing very well, not only considering the skin condition. You've already taken several steps in reintegrating. You're running several mi/km at once, and yes stumbling counts!, you're adding other activities such as biking and swimming, and you go with the flow, kudos to you! What ever else you need help with just ask, we're here to struggle/accomplish/overcome with you.

I also had a delibitating injury/condition, and have found something in tri'ing that counts for more than just other people staring, or another night wasted to the tele, and chips. Here; be who you are, be who you want to be!

Have you ever been to a chiropractor before?

Well, last yr around Oct. or so, I went for about 10 sessions. My insurance paid for everything, so why not right? Between then and about a wk ago or so their office sent me monthly newsletters and the such. But really, recently, one thing I've noticed is that despite the spinal fusion on two levels I was doing ok for awhile. I used a cane for the longest time. I was sooooo doped up. Finally I stopped all meds, even quit my regular medical practitioner. I was still training /working out, and feeling fine about a 6.5-7 out of 10 around 5 days a wk. But I was still getting shooting pains down both my legs every now and then. It wasn't due to anything specifically, they were more transient attacks. It was then that I realized this is going to be an uphill battle for LIFE. So now I try to manage the symptoms as they arise, because being ignorant to impending pain helps to alleviate other symptoms, anxiety, sleeplessness, and the fact that I was somehow responsible for some of the symptoms simply by thinking I was crippled. Then about a wk ago I just gave them a call (chiro), and they sent all the necessary paperwork in, and vio la!, the insurance is still paying every last red cent. I like the fact, no I appreciate that people in whatever profession still find a way to help those that are in a bind. The woman who works on me does the normal adj, has a whole computerized report on my spinal condition, she does the paperwork, and she's not rough either. This is one cow I plan on milking....

I go 3x/wk for 4 wks, then she re-evaluates me.

Hello,

Good question. I used to think if people really pushed/bugged me about it, it would help inspire me to do well- I found that it just made me rebel. I think words of encouragement when I do post a possitive achievement help me most - makes me want to work for those words of praise. Good tips also help.
I lost 30 lbs last year and have been maintaining. I really would like to loose that last 10 lbs. I'm stepping up my training for the season so I hope that helps. I know that I can't do it with exercise alone and I really need to start keeping my food journal again.
That is the plan starting tomorrow.
Exercise - Journal - Eat right.
Thanks for the help,
Laurie

The reason I asked that question was life is unpredictable, training is going to be just as hard. And I don't mean the training alone. You/we need to train our bodies as well as our minds to eat better, push ourselves, and others. It sounds like you have, already, some nutritional wisdom by the fact that you lossed 30 lbs last yr. Just remember training hard allows you to play hard, and eating well will definately help you on your way. Your food journal is a great idea, no wonder it worked last time. On this site, in your logs, you can also log your daily nutrion. Personally, I don't log much of my meals except for random accountability. But I do log my workout/training, weight, and certain aspects of my training. One thing I've found that helps me is to keep several logs of the same information. I currently have 3 logs, internet (BT WEB) and others, I use my calender as a log ( I just jot down a few pieces of info), and then there is a seperate workbook I use to keep track of my progress. This strategy, though too extensive for others ( and somewhat OCD'ish), forces me to stay motivated, accountable, and forces me to walk up and down the stairs in my house (they're placed all over). There's a little routine I go through every morning which helps me stay focused on what I have scheduled for the day. It also forces me to stay honest about what I log.

OK. . . so here's what I decided. Food journaling works really well for me, BUT when I start bingeing (which I struggle with) I stop journaling. I think I can't get myself to face the reality of all those calories. So, another goal for the month is going to be tracking ALL of my food intake in order to stay more honest with myself and hopefully cut down on the bingeing.
