Just remember, if you're going to go drinking: 1. No driving afterwards!!!! Unless your chasing the car from behind (10 mile brick ough'ta do it) 2. See if you can go dancing or something to help workoff some of the alcohol, or so the night is not completely wasted drinking. 3. Don't forget to eat before you go out. --> the feeling of satiety will help you drink less, and lastly don't forget to drink water throughout the night. Alcohol is fat soluable, water should help to dilute the effects and also may help you drink less. I think saling suggested a while back of a ratio 1:1 (alcohol : water) .

Alright Kappie: What'd you do???

Guys, I think kappie hit me with a "psychic" tapeworm... No, for real this morning I was at 187.8.... and to put into perspective yesturday was at 189.8. Ahhhhhh, it feels so nice just to type it. That's the lowest I've been in almost 6 yrs. Kappie we can do it together, 210 for you and I'll shoot for low 180's, sound good?

I'm all for that! Too bad I have no earthly idea what I've been doing other than drinking...a lot. How much did you have to drink last night?

Beer? None! But I did sleep in a Holiday Inn last night. J/K, but truthfully, I wanted to crack open a bottle of wine soooooo bad this evening. I didn't though. If you're drinking alot maybe you should include some shots of 151. That seems to have done it for me.

Well, Wednesday, it was shots of Goldschlager and last night it was shots of tequila. Both nights included plenty of Jameson though.

Everyone is going to get back to the board tomorrow morning and we'll have been talking about drinking all night. Whatever will they think? For the record, I'm drinking a Diet Dr. Pepper right now and eating some lowfat cheese, celery, carrots and a chicken fajita lean pocket.

I'm curious, is there a time in the evening that you generally cut yourself off from the fridge at night? One of the biggest hurdles I had to get over was not trying to eat after 8/9 pm. Try and get your calories in all 5/6 meals, but I would suggest that after a certain time don't eat or at least make it a tiny snack to help stoke the metabolic fire, like a handful of grapes or really and fruit, handful of almonds. But try to stay away from anything sugary, ie. rice krispy treats, chocolate, or whatever candy you're suited to. Or you could try and just drink water after a certain time, I do this one too!. And make sure you eat breakfast!!! It's the first log you put on that metabolic fire and it's usually the one that helps to kickstart it too!

Well, my eating schedule is off today as it often is on the weekend. During the week, I generally eat at between 6 and 8 and then am done for the night. And the strange thing is that I don't crave sweet things anymore. I used to love ice cream, chocolate, etc. Now, I'm more of a salty girl. I don't drink enough water, but I'm definitely getting better as the months progress. And I can't function without breakfast. I usually wake up quite hungry...and sometimes get a bit cranky when I don't have breakfast as soon as I would like to.

Me too!! I love salty foods, I try very hard to keep the salt shaker down to a min. though. I don't really crave sweet stuff either much anymore. Water, however, will definately help in losing weight!!! Drink as much as you can. If you're training, it'll only serve to help when race day comes around. What do you typically prepare for b-fast though? Do stay close to cereals, or is it bacon eggs?

Long before I ever joined. You'd have to ask Saling about that and DB and all that stuff. I started posting here I think back in Nov. last yr. But it's such a great place to hang your hat on all sorts of matters. I find that most things can be related to living, and eating healthy. Since my battle to try and sometimes TRI to stay ahead of the curve (weight curve that is) it definately helps to have someone to talk/relate too. It's especially good on one's own psychological development in preperation for upcoming races or to help stay on track if the individual feels that they can contribute to a meaningful relationship, even if it is long distance by most of our standards.

I'm a bacon/eggs girl. Although, a lot of mornings, my snack is oatmeal. I have to have something salty in the mornings. It will be interesting to see how things change when I start doing more intense workouts in the mornings.

I completely agree with you. I find that most people in my day to day life don't get the whole tri thing. And for the most part, it's difficult to explain to them. A year ago when my friend was training for a triathlon, I thought she was absolutely nuts! I didn't understand why she would do such a crazy thing. And now I'm one of the crazies But I couldn't be happier to be one of the crazies. Tri training has given my life a bit of direction that was lacking before. I'm healthier than I've ever been in my life. I'm not the size I want to be, but I'm getting there.

One step further away from where I came from and one step closer to where I want to be.

A very respectable pace, saling!

I know what you mean though, when I was running my half marathon I started thinking how slow I was and it seemed as though everyone was passing me and then I thought "hey, you know, there are alot of people who wouldn't be attempting this at all" it kept me going and stopped the negative thoughts. I think the mental aspect is very important. It's so easy to get down on ourselves and have self defeating thoughts. I was never athletic as a kid, picked last for teams, couldn't run the mile, you know the story so sometimes I still find myself fighting that internal image of myself when in reality I know I'm doing things that the majority of people wouldn't even consider. Great job to all of us who get out there and tri!!!

Kappie and Josh: all that talk about drinking and losing weight....makes me want to hit the bottle!  Maybe a few shots would help me get off this 2 pound sea-saw!  Too bad hangovers don't mix well with tri-training

Saling: nice brick!  Did you crave an apple after it?

I'm watching Will Wonka and the Chocolate Factory....."I've got a golden ticket!"  I still love this movie no matter how many times I watch it.
