Pre-race routine:

Got out of work early last night so I could get some decent sleep. Fell asleep probably about 11pm, got up at 6:30am. I wanted to try something different today so i drove 1/2 mile to Dunkin Donuts, got a small coffee black and a bagel. Went home toasted the bagel ate it and consumed the coffee. I also drank a pint of water during this time. I took our dogs out did a short 1/10mile jog with them, came inside used the facilities trying to flush my system (hence the coffee), and left at 8:30am. Go to the race site a bit after 9am, registered walked around a bit, went to my car listened to some music.

Came back inside someone asked about my Newton's he was wearing a pair as well, she chatted for a while about them.
Event warmup:

Stretched inside a bit and then jogged from Pelly's 19th hole to the race start.

Comments:

I took off to fast. The first three miles was a fight to not go to fast. It was sunny, cold and very windy. I had planned on wearing running shorts, a regular under armor top and a t-shirt. I had a hoodie in the car and ended up wearing that. The first two miles I hated wearing that hoodie, but after that I was very glad I did, it helped cut the wind and keep me warm. I would have been frozen without it.

Ran past the water, an Audi delivery point (1000s of Audis covered sitting around), the Air National Guard, and a few huge newish industrial complexes.

I chatted with a lady for a bit during the run, and stopped to drink my Gatorade, caught back up to her and then at some point she fell back and never caught up.

I was surprised around the 6 mile mark that a few people passed me.

The top runner finished in 50:45 and quite a few others below the 60min mark. That was very impressive.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for a bit semi-dazed, then headed inside tried some sort of elixir that was being given away (honestly I do not remember what it was except that it came in a wine bottle). I ate some sort of Odwalla bar, drank a bottle of water, walked around until they brough out bag lunches, grabbed one sat next to the other Newton runner, chatted with him and his friend about their upcoming Timberman race, ate my food, got in my car and headed out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The wind. It got bad a few places, I honestly think I would have been under 1:20 if the wind was not so bad, a few times it got so strong I felt like I was not moving.

From the Weather Channel: Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph.

Event comments:

I am glad I emailed the directors ahead of time and found out that they would only have 4 stations and only water. Some Gatorade would have been nice, but I carried my own in a single race belt bottle that I held in my hands.

Aaron - Well done on an excellent race that is a good time over a challenging distance so well done. The result reflects your consistency in training and I am going to predict you have a very good season on the bike and run this year. Add to that the improvements you will see in the pool as a result of lessons and greater frequency and you should be good to go for a great 2008...

 Keep up the good work!!!
