You may have noticed 'Performance Member Articles' on the frontpage, bottom.  We have just started this and the articles/specific content will evolve as we see the ratings...we will initially put up a few articles twice a week - like the free articles.

Also, for the training logs, 'planned training and equipment tracker' are for medal members now as testing is over - plus the health graphs and avg and pace graphs (but only for new members registering on the site - the rest of you before yesterday got grandfathered in...in the spirit of beta testing and all that.  and the nutrition logs...2005 sometime thats all i can say.  (we just added 'total distance' graphs for free users too)

We are also installing a chat function tonight for silver and gold members AND bronze...its not guaranteed..we are installing it tonight (forum may go down) and will test it tomorrow...i may not like the functionality and will look for another one.

And I may have told you that this winter and spring, we are adding performance training plans to the gold member plans...sprints and olys first..then some 1/2 and Fulls...drawn up by the 1/2IM plan-maker (sherrick) on the site exclusively for us....we are looking at offering a suite of performance plans in 2005 to address some general limiters people have including sports and time limiters so you can acheive beyond your first year with the free plans here or elsewhere.  Though they wont be specific for ONE person...thats where coaching comes in...and thats where we will finish in early 2005...online coaching.

then we will transform.

(these are very exciting times for both of us)

you can see a current listing at: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=58

like i said, this is an unofficial heads-up.  jump on board with a performance membership whenever you feel that the product suite suits you...otherwise, feel free to use all the free services that we offer now.

the premise behind a 'performance membership' is to offer you 1+ year triathletes a lot of extra stuff to keep you improving...and to have a revenue base to keep the site funded and improving...upon evaluation, we just simply couldnt offer all these extras on pure donations or lots of banners....we hope this is a nice 'two platform (free/paid)' offering so that all members will benifit.

i will entertain any questions that you should have...

This was a great site when I discovered it in July, but the improvements made in the past six months have been staggering!

However, the chat room sounds like a dangerous idea. Goodbye, free time!

Yeah, I'm a little nervous about the chat room

Seriously, Ron.... I NEVER EVER would have had the nerve to try triathlons without this site. I would have WANTED to, but I would have been overwhelmed and intimidated by the information and the hoop-la and the mystique. I may never be competitive -I don't really want to be. But triathlons and a path to serious kick-butt fitness are a part of my cancer recovery for the rest of my life. And this from a person who, quite literally, had to have my son walk with me to the corner after I finished chemo and radiation. I really thought I wouldn't make it without help. Andtraining is fun??!!! Who knew?

i've given the chat a lot of consideration for a long time...being restricted to the silver/gold memberships will not allow it to be a 'free for all' and should not slow down the forums - which is my primary concern...its a bonus if you are already a silver/gold members BUT for the more serious triathletes, it will allow a way for more 'easy communication' with fellow silver/gold members...plus its will be a very useful addition with coaches once we get the online training going later...we will also be able to do some unique ideas such as live Q&A's with people.

don't be scared...

Ron,
I'm not quite sure how the whole medaling procedure works. Is there a chart that tells how to get to those levels?
Thanks

Hey Ron,

The improvements sound great. I will really be interested in taking the training plans to the next level and actually having online coaching. You guys are doing a great job!
