Subject: Breathing technique in cold H2O In light of recent cold water swimming stories, I had my first cold water swim the other day. The indoor pool I swim at was drained and the new water was chilly 65 degrees. Besides the sense of my skin being numb, I had a real hard time breathing. I know this is a common issue, but I was just wondering what the proper breathing technique is for cold water? I slowly exhale through the nose, but couldn't seem to do so in the cold water. I had to hold my breath and exhale and inhale through the mouth which threw my stroke off. I want to be prepared so I don't feel like I'm drowning come race season!
