Per the Minnesota Tri Club website

http://www.mntriclub.com/index.php/training-and-clinics/century-rid...

One of the many benefits of being an MNTriClub member are the monthly century rides in the summer. We do these rides once per month from May through September. The rides are 100 miles out and back, meaning that you do not have to bike all 100 miles, but go out as far as you like, and then turn around. Along the way we will have aid stations set up every 20 miles. These aid stations are stocked full of goodies. Things like: energy bars, gels, oranges, bananas, pretzels, cookies (including the ever popular Nutter Butters and Fig Newtons), water, ice, sport drink powder, suntan lotion, extra tubes (there is a slight charge for these on the honor system), and more. The first 20 miles of each ride is a guaranteed no drop ride. Before departing the parking lot, all riders will get a map of the ride with cell phone numbers of MNTriClub board members to call in the event of a problem. Non-members are welcome at these rides, however there is a $10 per person charge for non-members.
The 2008 Ride Schedule is as follows (all rides begin at 7:30 am unless otherwise noted)

Saturday, May 24th - Liberty Tri course preview at Baker Park (take a right when you enter the park and you'll see us in the parking lot at the bottom of the hill). MNTriClub pre-season pancake brunch to follow the ride at the park

I think this'd be a good chance to take a gander at the Liberty bike course.

Sounds like fun, but I think it is still a bit early in the season for a century for me. Also, my wife and I usually go camping or something that weekend. $10 is very reasonable for an organized ride like that too. Who knows, maybe I'll show up to punish myself if we're not out of town.

Almost a "for sure"  for Kelly and I.  Just have to figure out how to finish the century before the pancakes quit being made at 2:00.

You don't need to do the 100 miles.  They have it broken up into 25 mile loops.

Yeah, but the competitor and perfectionist in me wouldn't be happy unless I did the whole thing.

You should have no problem finishing as long as you get started by 6am.

I'm out.  4th annual Memorial Day weekend ride for the Parco family.  We do this as a ride with our kids and invite about 3 other families to do the ride with us.  Last year was the Cannon Falls trail, with a stop for ice cream at Welch.  About 40 miles total...S.L.O.W.  I'll usually ride back and forth from the front of the group to the back of the group, just to keep moving at a decent pace.

You're all invited to come with...we haven't picked a trail system yet...

So, who IS doing this? I am thinking it would be fun, and a hundred miles really shouldn't be that big of a deal by now for any of us doing IM this year.

I'm penciled in. I'm still not sure if I'll give up a day of turkey hunting in WI to do it.

I still haven't ridden anything over 50ish but am not too worried.

So who IS doing this thing anyway?  Anyone?  Kelly and I are in for sure.  I'm planning on 75 miles and I think she's planning on 50 or more.  Hope to see some other people there.

I'm about 90% sure I'm riding at this pt. Only way I won't is if I see a whole bunch of birds tomorrow and don't get one. My buddy and I will work hard tomorrow to bag a couple.

PM me your phone # and I'll get 'hold of you Friday night and let you know what's up.

A brick is a 50 mile ride and a 10 mile run.

A 100 mile ride and an 18 mile run in May when training for a Sept IM is just a sign that you have a brick sitting on top of your shoulders.

I thgought you were a Marine, isn't that redundant

This is a very good decision on your part.  I use to think IM training was about long hard crazy work-outs.  I'm figuring out more and more slow, and steady is probably the way to go in this game.  Good luck with the run David.  Hope to see you at an event soon.
