As I wrap up my Friday with a concoction of fat-free cottage cheese, rice pudding, walnuts and peanut butter (it's gross looking but actually pretty yummy)...I realized that I eat the oddest things to make sure I get the protein, carbs and fat I need for training. So, it begs the question, what's the oddest thing you've eaten or eat on a regular basis?

When I was lifting I used to eat 3 cans of tuna a day, straight dry. My wife used to gag just looking at it.

I'm going for a big poutine in about an hour... I'm so excited, they just opened up a real Quebecois foodstand near my house. I may put ten pounds back on because of that.

I am vegetarian and Celiac (no wheat, oats, rye, or barley) so most people think my entire diet is strange.

Chicken or Veggie Broth

Something I discovered last year in LP and now I buy it by the case at Costco for post-workout recovery.

I tend to get chilled after my workouts (No, before the Ice Bath) and the broth wards off the chill very nicely. It is also good as a warm mug of something to take with me into my afternoon ice down ritual.

My friends all think I am nuts and most of my marathoner friends also think it a bit odd although a few of them are catching onto it

I just pour it into a coffee mug and heat it in the microwave for a minute or so. (My Wave has an auto setting for "Warm Up Beverage"

My family has a wonderful recipe for ham salad... which some might consider strange in and of itself... but my favorite way of eating it... is with peanut butter...

I have gotten many strange looks... of course, i also eat peanut butter and jumbo (pittsburghese for bologna)... I just don't eat bologna on a regular basis. (unless it's in the ham salad)...

HOLY SMOKES!

Now I know my dad isn't the only weirdo in the world. Growing up in the 'burgh, I remember my dad making peanut butter, jumbo and...wait for it....PICKLE sandwiches, sometimes on rye.

Being a good Gulf coast boy I have to say mullett, grouper cheeks, grouper head soup .

When we used to go hunting in MS there was a diner that served squirrel brains on toast.  Used to get that after a cold morning in the blind

Fried jumbo and Peanut Butter? Tried it????

P.S. Lived in Castle Shannon for a while but most of my family lives in Masontown, Springfield, Morgantown and the like of SE Pennsylvania.

P.S.S. It is amazing... I can't stand mayo but the combo is crazy good.

I love a good peanut butter and banana sandwich. sometimes a little mayo in there is good.

Pears, mayonaise and cheese are also good on top of lettuce.

Pineapple cheese sandwiches are great.

Yes, I know I'm weird.
