Pre Race for me means 7 bean burritos from Taco Bell, hold the onions.

jmk-brooklyn - 2008-06-03 10:25 PM This was, supposedly, the pre-marathon meal for “celebrity chef and NYC Marathon finisher” Bobby Flay. I found it in Runners World and it’s become my pre-race meal anytime I’m somewhere with a kitchen: • Sautee sliced garlic in olive oil until it just starts to brown, turn off heat & let it steep • Boil a pot of whole wheat pasta (I use spaghetti) • Strain the garlic out of the oil, set oil aside. • Sautee some chopped bacon (I use turkey bacon) in the pan where the oil was until crispy. • Drain pasta, pour the oil and bacon over the pasta, add some chopped parsley and parmesan cheese and serve.

Funny. I am italian and I can tell you that if you smash whole raw eggs on top of it while you mix, you will do an excellent Carbonara (with peppers of course otherwise is not carbonara!).

Rule is 1 egg for each person plus 1 egg for the pot Wink 2 people => 3 eggs

Chocolate chip pancakes with a touch of whipped cream.

Or a nice omelette ham and cheese, homemade of course.

Some variation that includes either chicken or salmon, veggies, brown rice or redskins.

Quinoa or brown rice with steamed veggies (carrots, broccoli or whatever else is available except cabbage which is just too volatile before a race) sprinkled with a bit of dressing, some other starch (potato, bread, crackers), then apple or pear with yogurt for dessert... and a 1/2 glass of wine.

I'll take tons of sushi for recovery!
