Congrats!

I hope to do my first race in over ten years in October.  Still a bit nervous about it, though I'm not sure why!

Does anyone know of how many tri folks are in the Etown, Central KY area? Not that I have any interest of getting anything going like the CK Wheelmen, but if we had some type of email list or phone list or something to contact each other, we may be able to set up some rides or runs or some OWS (next year of course). Or even commute to races together. Just trying to see if there is any interest.

I live in Lexington.  Just getting back into training after a long hiatus and know nada about the local scene.  Hoping that will come with time.

Yea I'm doing it, I love the races that are for a charity. I've never done it before so I don't know anything about the course. But if you see me give me a holler.

Well guys, now you have my interest piqued.  Any of you have an idea of how many participants I could expect, and what the bike course is like?  So far this summer I have had nearly non-existent swimming training going on, but I think I could survive a 300 yard pool swim (much more so than the 800 yd swim in the Tri For Sight).  May give this race a last second try.

I have no idea on either question you asked but you should do it. Not only will you get the personal satisfaction of achievement but the race is for a good charity (not that there are bad one.)  I'm guessing  it will be prettty small since they are accepting walk up registrations. So I will see you there!!!!

Plus you get a free t-shirt, which is nice

Okay - the RD got back to me and sent me a PDF of the bike course, which I drew up as a route:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=68365 (based on satellite, not the "map" display)

Looks pretty flat, though I would rather be coming in downhill than uphill.

Although I haven't officially signed up, I think I'll be there.  Look for the guy who doesn't look like a triathlete.

Oh, and I'll probably be setting some kind of BT record - longest standing member to have finally completed their first tri. (assuming I'll complete it).

It's only taken four years to get here . . . whatev
