LOL...none taken Tom! I look at it as super motivation or a pep talk to myself...as in "Look you dummy, you went and got the ink, now don't go killing yourself and make sure you finish the damn event!" My kids might be the first to admit their old man is a coupla french fries short of a complete Happy Meal

Whatever ! It still a very nice artwork and a proof of your determination. I'd bet a thousand box that you are gonna cross that finish line. I even think of having that attitude from now on...

the bear - 2005-01-28 7:02 AM That's nice, pg. How long did that take, if you don't mind me asking. I've thought about getting a tat, but at my age it would be kind of pathetic.
Thanks. Total time was about 17 hrs, but each session was only about 2-3 hrs and it was spread over 3 months. If I ever finished an IM, I probably would get a tattoo. I've already started thinking about placement and design. But it wouldn't be the plain M dot. I'd put more decoration into it to make a bit more artistic.

Another personal ? if you don't mind.......Since you got it done in sections, is there any difference in the ink or coloring?  I want a largish tat, but that has always been a concern, the discontinuity in ink from session to session....

Also, as far as getting a tat;  for someone considering what to get, make sure that you know what it is you are getting.  My wife just got her balck belt and wanted to have "Shorin-Ryu" in kanji tatooed on her back.  The artist made it a point to verify the Kanji to make sure it was not in some way gang related.  Turns out the kanji she had was corerect, but he said that a lot of people pick a tatoo without being sure what it means, and end up regretting it, so like everyone else said, think about it, and be sure what you get is what you want, cause it is going to be there for a long time.

another thing to think about is that you can't swim for two weeks after getting a tat.
keep that in mind with the timing!

Thanks again to everybody !

You can get one without doing a triathlon if you want to
It shouldn't matter if it is an IMNA race or not...140.6 is 140.6 no matter who put the race on
