Pre-race routine:

napped untill 10:00 p.m. and headed to the race site.
Event warmup:

No real warm up for a 50K.
Run
  • 5h 41m 22s
  • 31.07 miles
  • 10m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

This run was mostly a training run in preperation for my first attempt at 100 miles at the end of August. I decided to run continuously through lap 7 in order to get my legs tired and then I wanted to start a run/walk strategy and see how long it would take for my legs to start coming back.I expected it would take all of lap 8 and 9 but you can see they were already coming back at lap 9 and I could actually feel them coming back toward the latter half of lap 8.
What would you do differently?:

nothing. The run was actually a 50K PR for me.
Post race
Warm down:

I took a shower and went to sleep!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing

Event comments:

I'm not sure I would travel a long way to do this race unless there was an important reason you needed a midnight long run in humid conditions, which I did. If you live anywhere near the event though it is well worth the trip.
