I just purchased my P2C and got the Ultegra kit.  For me the $500 was much better spent on a very long list of items (helmet, wheels, wetsuit, etc, you get the idea).  However one of the other guys in the store who was considering this bike also would probably benefit more from the DA version (already has race wheels, helmet, etc) and the better crank, bearings, wheels would be well worth the money).  The point is that it totally depends on where you are and what you have.

one other point that has not been mentioned.  One of the large differences between the two are the BB bearing cups.  You could go with the Ultegra model and upgrade these for very little money and get the most "bang for the buck" as another alternative.

Either way, I can't believe how fast my P2C is compared to my road bike with aerobars!!
