Subject: RE: Doing first century? Is it a "supported" ride? Or just something that you're doing on your own? If it's supported, I think you'll have all the nutrition you'll need at the designated rest stops.
My hubby and I did our own century (actually 103 miles ) a few weeks ago. Actual riding time was 6hrs, 46mins., but we made sure to take rest stops every 25-30 miles or so. I need to stretch out my back during long rides. For my nutrition, I had a bottle of Infinit in my bottle cage...and in my bento box I had a Clif bar, a mini-bagel spread with PB, and a package of Clif Shot Bloks. I also refilled my water bottle with Gatorade G2 at one of the stops. It was one of my better rides...felt good for the entire distance. Nutrition for a 100 mile ride is something that you'll probably have to tweak a bit, with trial and error. Since this was our first century, I just basically stuck with stuff that I normally take on 75-80 mile rides. Edited by nscrbug 2008-08-14 6:27 PM
