Subject: tires/tubes question OK, I've been riding my lovely Javelin roadie for a few months now and need to get serious about a spare/repair/maintain setup. A cell phone and credit card only fixes so much
I see on performance bikes and REI a range of choices for tubes. My wheels are 700x23, do I get the 19 to 25 tubes or the 23-26? and why(teach me!)? Are the Novara of better quality that the Forte?
That said, my BIL loaned me a 700x28 tire and tube when I was in desperate need. I think he said he uses the larger tires because he's big (200+lbs). If there a reason I should look at a different size tire? I intend currently to stick with sprint length tris. (I'm ~150lbs, I'd guess.) Besides the below, any other basics I need on hand? tires tubes pump levers patch kit rimtape seat bag chain lube My childhood/teen bikes survived fine with a Kmart patch kit, floor pump, and occasional new tubes/tires. Screwdrivers (which sometimes caused additional patches needed) were the "tire levers" of the day. Thanks! |
