Expert 769 Alpharetta (until we find a home) | Subject: RE: Deer Creek Triathlon - Sprint : Official Thread good time- thanks to Lora for volunteering. I cant imagine how slow they would have been without her Any other olympic distance swimmers in the M30-39 group notice the off course flotilla of butt heads who cut the course at the start? David- I am glad you and I finished "first" and "third". I like their math Anyone know why they have the OLY people loop in on the bike? I had the course a little over (25.3). Was it short last year? Expert 717 Washington Court House, Ohio | Subject: RE: Deer Creek Triathlon - Sprint : Official Thread I got a 1:23:17 on the sprint duathlon, 5th overall, but they don't have me in the results. Too bad too because my bike split was 32:58 and beat number 1 by a good deal (my runs were of course slower). My runs were my best ever though. I am also curious about why the Oly riders loop back in. I believe it has always been that way since Sep 2007 when I started racing at the course. That creates more traffic, plus and opportunity for a rider to not loop in and thus short the course. Maybe it is the best way to handle the Deer Creek entrance intersection (bikes going in and out without the added cross traffic). |

No idea on time, have to wait until they post. oh yea, it was a blast! I meant to say it wasn't as good: 1:46:01, i guess overall its not to bad for a first timer? Swim wasn't as bad as i thaught, though not good either, 18:+change Bike was nice 44:+ Run, like i mentioned, my heals were bleeding: 39:+ If a better swim and no blisters, might have been able to get my goal of 1:35, we'll try again in Sept. Great to meet some of you, it was truly a great experience! Edited by abrezo 2009-06-08 8:47 AM |

Well, hey, thank you for the shout-out. I actually had a BLAST volunteering. Registration was my favorite. I just love greeting people. I'd heard that the women, not sure if it was the oly or sprint group, cut the first buoy, too. What the crap? Thomas and David: Did they mess-up your all's placings? Again, what the crap? |

Master 2014 Ohio | Subject: RE: Deer Creek Triathlon - Sprint : Official Thread I knew there was no way I took 1st in my age group. I'm proud of my time but I feel bad for the guy who didn't get the medal he rightly deserves. I'm gonna email HFP this week and see if they will give me the guys address so I can mail him his medal. It dosen't mean s%*t to me since I didn't earn it, hopefully I can get it to him. I had a blast racing, thanks to Lora for volunteering and it was great to see everyone. I'm going to post a RR tomorrow, hopefully. |

Thomas (bananatoes) heard your name called and I went back to the announcer and volunteer coordinator, told them you'd stepped away, they looked-up your name, the guy said "David Hohl?" I said, "Yes." He then said, as he handed me the blue medal, "First place. Congratulations." I take it their numbers were wrong at that point and they've since made an adjustment? That is very honorable of you to go out of your way to get that guy his medal. Edited by Lora109 2009-06-08 11:44 AM |

Expert 717 Washington Court House, Ohio | Subject: RE: Deer Creek Triathlon - Sprint : Official Thread Apparently, (according to the notes I see above), if I was included in the results, somebody else would have been handed my award. I'd like for them to just include me because it was probably my best race ever. |

Extreme Veteran 683 Cleveland Area | Subject: RE: Deer Creek Triathlon - Sprint : Official Thread i believe its only the top three in each division. And i was in the same boat as you, had a 3 hour drive ahead of me and left the house at 3am just to get there with enough time. wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first race also. |

Master 2014 Ohio | Subject: RE: Deer Creek Triathlon - Sprint : Official Thread Just the top three in each division. Or, if you placed 11th in the 30-34 age group you got the medal for 1st. I knocked on the guys door whose medal I thought I had and tried to give it to him. He said he placed second in the 35-39 age group, and didn't get a medal. HFP has the results all loused up. I'll move to the #2 guy on the list, he lives in Colorado. |

What the crap? Yup it was the women sprint group. I was so mad when I saw what was going on. There is no excuse for cheating. Ever. I'm not sure why no one made them go around. :/ I guess it's kinda hard when there are no numbers on caps and you can't tell body marking. But it was an awesome day, a great race over all and I finished under 2 hours- which was the goal. I swam twice the distance and ran up that crazy hill and was only 30 seconds off my first tri. Very pleased. Edited by k_watzek 2009-06-08 8:12 PM |

Very pleased. On my warm-up swim that morning I did the same thing, swam to the second turn bouy and skipped the first. It was very hard to see in the morning sun. When I realized my mistake I swam to the first bouy and picked out a tree line to sight on the swim. I'm going to think that people didn't cheat, they just missed the first bouy in the glare of the sun. But HFP sould have had someone there to direct them back to the first bouy. |
