Subject: Fogged goggles AGAIN !

the past three times i've gone to the pool my goggles have fogged up. NEVER before had i had any trouble and I've been in the pool A TON !  I wipe them off, put spit on the (ucky may i say).....and that does not work.  then I go and read about non fog stuff and most reviews say they are no good.
Do goggles exist that are just fog PROOF ?......  I hate this because I am easily distracted and fogged goggles is just making me nuts !

So I have to find goggles that do not fog or something to put on so they don't fog, ........any ideas ?PLEASE

I've swam competitively for many years and am reasonably good now, but have never found truly fog proof goggles. The ones that are tend to have the fog stuff wear off after a month or two, and it's back to spit ...

I find that just licking the inside of my goggles works well. Wish I could be more help, but it's pretty much how it is.

You could try anti-fog solution ... but I think you do have to apply it every time.

Toothpaste, seriously!

Friends of mine that are divers turned me on to this, works for a couple of times them repeat.  Put a very small tab on your finger tip and smear on the lens, then rinse good.  I have a dentist sample in my goggle case.

The last time I recall this being talked about, someone mentioned baby shampoo, which I thought about trying but my goobers take care of my goggles just fine and it's something I can't forget to throw in the bag or take with me.

Fogged goggles- if you are in the north and are leaving your swim gear in the car at night, the plastic get's cold and will fog up for quite a while until it get's acclimated (sp?) to the natatorium/water temperature after that, fog problems go back to normal. -  for what it's worth...my .02 cents.

I've tried all of the above and they work briefly for me.  I sweat a lot.

I keep a small drop of water inside my goggles.  When they start to get foggy I look a bit further down and let the water move around my goggles.  You don't have to break momentum to make this trick work.

It is important to keep your goggles clean.  Dish soap or baby shampoo work well.

thanks all !  I noticed other swimmers today dealing with fogged goggles too.

I have a small bag I take with me to the pool, has my goggles/cap/locker keys etc. so I'll just toss in a bit of toothpaste and see how that works for me. Thank you all so much for the ideas.

I dont think any of the anti fogging works past a few swims. As was pointed out above in the thread using tooth paste to polish the anti fog off is something I have done with my Barracuda standards. Using dish wash soap let it dry is something Ive herd it does work, some of the fog drops work for a swim. you just got to keep putting the stuff on. One thing that does work and may be the trouble is that if the goggles are cold and the pool is warm as well as your face. Try
warming the goggles in the shower before your swim see if that helps.

Baby shampoo is the only thing I can find that works on Aquasphere products. Rub a little on with water the night before, pour the water out and let it dry overnight. Works like a charm.

You know that sludgy blob of dried-up dish soap that accumulates around the top of the bottle? Rub some of that on the inside of your goggles with your finger, then lightly buff them with a soft cloth.

I've used this on goggles and cycling glasses and it works well.

BABY SHAMPOO the night before, dry, then rinse before swimming.  The other stuff may work, but if you don't rinse it off completely before swimming, it tends to burn the crap out of your eyes.

I find that once I'm done with my warm-up, my goggles don't fog again - even for really long swims.

Have you tried wiping them off (and re-spitting) after your warm up when they are warmed up to your body temp?

Spit before the swim today, per usual, and respit several times during the swims.  Thanks OP for the good post.  Will try some of the recommendations in the thread.

X3 BABY SHAMPOO....small drop on each lens rinse a bit and you're good for one or two swims...and it's cheap!

these are all awesome ideas ! I gotta say the "cat crap" cracked me up, where do they come up with these names ! lol

I have never thought to warm up the goggles in a shower, that's a good idea ! Plus I also put some toothpaste on them so will see how that works (tossed it in my bag).  I'll get one of those tiny baby soap bottles and toss it in too.

I will start with those, if they work then SUPER if for some reason I have trouble I'll go after the cat crap ! lol

Just a word of caution about the stuff you put on the inside of your goggles. I know of people who didn't rinse it out sufficiently before wearing their goggles. The result was a very unpleasant burning reaction with their eyes. Lesson: use saliva.

I use the TYR anti fog stuff on my aquaspheres. Works fine, but you have to reapply after every other swim. I also swam competitively for a long time. There is no such thing as anti-fog goggles that stay anti-fog. Spit works ok, but doesn't last the whole swim. The TYR stuff will at least last for the duration of your swim.

I gotta laugh because I came back to this thread to say "WASH IT OUT VERY WELL" when it comes to toothpaste. Wanna know why ?  'CAUSE IT BURNS IF YOU DON'T !!!

Did not realize that it was already posted, wish I had seen that before I had blinding burning in my eyes ! lol

So, the toothpaste worked great, but really, I have to be more careful adn really wash it out.... because I did get the burning eyes. Lesson learned, adn it worked great once it was all rinsed out ! lol

Spit really does not work for me, maybe I have weak spit ! lol

I have to wonder why spit works for some and not others... Works great for me.  One important thing to note, though, is that the nice anti-fog surface of new goggles can be eroded by constant rubbing, pasting, gooping, cleansing, etc.

My goggles last fog-free for a long time if I am careful to 1)  spit a good amount in each lens, 2) roll the spit around without my fingers, 3) rise without putting my fingers in the lens, and 4) rinsing with clean, chlorine free, water when I'm done.

I learned this from scuba.  I am very careful with my scuba goggles because they cost 10 times what I pay for my TYR Socket Rockets.  As soon as the lenses don't stay mostly fog free for an entire swim  - a few times in a row, to account for other factors like body heat - I get out a new pair.

I've tried soem FOGGLE - a towelette made by SBR Sports.  I got 5 (indivdual paks like those hand wash things at Rib restarants) and they work very well.  But not cheap.  Has anyone ever tried those auto-glass anti fog wipe made by rain-x.  I had some anti-fog drops, but using them occaisonally, the bottle lasts for few years and then it wouldn't work.
