No way! Shur, one game of that can take up to few days, right? But as long as it's fun for you. Friends here are organising a night out on Friday and I was thinking of joining them for a few but then they mentioned 10pm and that's basically a NO NO for me - way past my bedtime and my party time. Then they were trying to bully me into going by saying I'm not gonna be 30 for another month and to live my 20s etc - I'm such a weirdo, really. |

ARe you sure you are getting enough? Also, have you noticed any other differences (way clothes fit, appearance, maybe body fat change)? Sometimes it can be a bit of a puzzle. I usually eat about 1400-1550, I think thats enough. In the past I was down at like 1200-1300...Didnt take long for my body to let me know that I wasnt taking in enough so I went back up real quick. So I have been sticking to 1400-1550. The strange part is that I am visibly shrinking, my boyfriend has noticed..co-workers have noticed. Clothes are starting to fit better. Well actually, shirts/jackets are fitting better...the waist is smaller...the thighs and booty continue to laugh at my attempts to shrink them :-) That being said, 158 is still 158 when riding up a hill or running up a hill. I feel like I am being held back by the weight...I could go harder but I FEEL my body as I try to do anything harder. Then it makes my asthma act up and then I need to back off. My asthma was less of a factor when I was in the 140s..and thats what I am trying to achieve. With the weather getting nicer and days getting longer, my boyfriend and I took our mountain bikes out of storage. So that is the additional spice I will be adding to my workouts. My body will comply and let go of some pounds dangit :-) |

True, but if you have dropped X lbs of fat and converted it into X lbs of muscle, you are going to have an easier time powering up that hill At least you have been able to see some kind of change in your physical makeup. At some point, you will begin to lose more fat and not replace it with muscle (thus dropping the scale). Expert 1058 Cambridge | Subject: RE: Team Skinny 03/2009 March Madness Complete change of topic here. Me has couple of questions li'm going to start hitting the pool maybe once a week or so starting the week after next, and i'm wondering what i should be working on. What stroke is best for triathalon? Crawl or backstroke or the fly? Although back in my school days i used to race with breast stroke and could outpace quite a few people doing freestyle lol Bikes : At the moment i've got a bit of a bike conundrum. My lovely old bike (which i've had for 9 years since i was only 13 according to the receipt) is a bit fubar, needs so much work to it its not worth it (new front gears, new deraileur, new crank shaft, new cranks , new back axle, new brake levers) but i'm wondering whether to invest in buying a new bike (i use it to get around a bit) or just use my old mans bike lol. its a hybrid road/ mountin bike with decent enough features on it and i've been training on it reasonably fine tho it needs a couple of adjustments. Running: As i'm only intending to do the one tri this year to tri it out, would it be acceptable to leave the running til about 2 months before the race before i even attempt it? I hate running at the moment as it is such a pain on my knees (weight problem) and struggle with half a KM (race is 2.5)
by the way my A key doesn't work very well so if i missed some bits out its not me being a thicko |

Me has couple of questions li'm going to start hitting the pool maybe once a week or so starting the week after next, and i'm wondering what i should be working on. What stroke is best for triathalon? Crawl or backstroke or the fly? Although back in my school days i used to race with breast stroke and could outpace quite a few people doing freestyle lol Freestyle is usually best as it is the most efficient in terms of energy expended and most of the power comes from your arms, which (hopefully) leaves your legs fresher for the bike and the run. That said - whatever way is the most comfortable for you is fine. Just a comment on breast stroke - if you choose that option - please swim to the outside as it's no fun getting kicked by a breast stroker. Bikes : At the moment i've got a bit of a bike conundrum. Stick with the loaner (i.e. use it for free) bike. Once you've done a few tris and have decided you want to commit is soon enough to think about dropping some $$ on bikes. I used a $300 bike I bought (old-school steel frame) for the first 5 years I did triathlon and while it wasn't the fastest out there - well, neither am I. I got a new bike and I love it - but it's not tri-specific. I bought the bike that's the best for me long term. I think you need to wait a bit on a bike purchase as that's by far where most of your equipment $$ go.
Running: As i'm only intending to do the one tri this year to tri it out, would it be acceptable to leave the running til about 2 months before the race before i even attempt it? I hate running at the moment as it is such a pain on my knees (weight problem) and struggle with half a KM (race is 2.5) NO! If you can't run, start walking. Then add a bit of jogging here and there as you feel up to it. Alternatively - there is a couch to 5k program on this site you could use. Do NOT wait to get out there and do some weight-bearing activity even if it is just fast walking with a little slow jogging thrown in. Running is the hardest and takes the longest to adjust to. Good luck! |
