Total Time = 7h 15m
Overall Rank = 570/795
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 37/47
Pre-race routine:

stomach was messed up - so nothing I usually do before a race,
Event warmup:

got to the race site about 6:00-ish
had to ask a ref to move someone else's transition setup that was spread out everywhere.
set up the bike, made another bathroom run.

Swim
  • 24m 29s
  • 1056 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Uhm this is ...not bad.
What would you do differently?:

Position myself differently.
I was stuck in the middle, was bumped around, thrashed, and mentally i wasn't quite prepared for it.
Transition 1
  • 02m 37s
Comments:

I wasn't prepared to jump on the bike this race.
My leg got 'stuck' the first attempt to get it over the bar.
I laughed it out and then got it over and started pedaling.
Right shoe on first, then left shoe, and I was off.
What would you do differently?:

Jump on the bike.
Bike
  • 1h 36m 57s
  • 28 miles
  • 17.33 mile/hr
Comments:

none really - this is the strongest part of my race.
plenty to work on.
What would you do differently?:

prepare mentally.
ma sound goofy, but I wasn't mentally prepared this time.
Transition 2
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

All I kept thinking shoes on HELMET OFF!!!
What would you do differently?:

Pretty please with T2 - of course I could always say go faster.
Run
  • 1h 24m 51s
  • 6.5 miles
  • 13m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

Now this run hurt.
The sun started shining, the winds were picking up and all I know is that my legs didn't want to move.
I tried to find a pace where I could keep running.
And for the most part I did.
Admittedly there were about three places I walked, but not bad considering I haven't really run since last year - before I broke my foot.
What would you do differently?:

hhhmmmmm well of course i would have prefered to run faster, but we'll see how things progress if I do this race next year.
Post race
Warm down:

drank the water
received a massage - woohoo
ate the free food they had for the athletes - and considering how 'late' I finished I wasn't all eaten up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

first race of the year, not going to really complain.
I finished, it's all good.

Uh I still have to deal with a lot of bumping and thrashing. Mentally it is still a battle. I saw the buoy and it seemed like everyone wanted to swim away from it.
