Subject: RE: Vo2 and body fat test results newbz - 2009-05-27 2:55 PM Local college was offering testing through the human proformance center for phys ed and science students so i got a free body fat (hydro test), strength and flex test, and choice of running or cycling Vo2max test (chose running). Some interesting results, my strength in all areas sucks (knew i was not wildly strong, sad how bad it was) Body fat was lower than i would have thought vo2 was much higher than i would have thought (maybe explains why rowing came so easy to me). anyone else had this done? thoughts? useful at all for your training? I did the same thing when I was a kinesiology student. I'd rather have a laboratory LT than a VO2, but it can very easily be useful for training. The problem is, that VO2 max will change with training, and can change drastically, so it's a test that needs to be repeated. Otherwise, you're training on a VO2 chart that is outdated, and training slower/faster than you should be. A field LT test (properly applied ) can tell you just as much, and can be repeated as necessary to adjust for training. John |
