Will also consider a used men's bike of the same size.

I have a practically new (less than 100 miles!) Bianchi 928 Carbon Road bike, 53 cm, full Shimano Ultegra components.  It is a size too small for me so I have to sell it.  I'm going to try to attach a picture to this reply, but I'm new at this and if it doesn't work, e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send to you directly.  The bike cost $2700, but I'm selling for $1800 OBO.  It is a beautiful bike and very elegant and light-you can ride for miles and miles.

I hate to part with it but I have three other bikes in my garage and the family car is asking for a roof.

2002 Trek Hilo 54 cm frame w/ carbon aero fork (Alum frame w/ very aero tubing and triathlon geometry),
Shimano 105 throughout - 9 speed group & 53/39 in front,
Rolf Vector wheels (super strong and durable),
Syntace bull horn and aero bars w/ Dia Compe aero brake levers,
Cane Creek aheadset,  2 x Profile water bottles.

I used to weigh 220# and these wheels are absolutely true to this date. Now I'm 185 and riding a carbon frame.
Will come with Continental Grand Prix 3000 tires and will also include an extra set of MICHELIN Axial PRO racing tires (used but with low mileage and are very lightweight) .

Original owner. I have raced on it for about 3 yrs. but used to train on a road bike and mileage is mostly racing.
This bike has a few yrs so it has a few paint scratches (normal wear and tear) but it hasn't been crashed and has been very well maintained.

Asking $850 delivered (full price will include behind the seat bottle rack system and pair Look pedals).  Anything below that will not include shipping or extras.  Mail me for Trek specs and review info.
This is an awesome bike.  Original cost $2300, asking about 1/3rd of that.  It is a race ready tri bike, not a converted roadie.

I'm trying to post a few pics but IM me your email address if you don't see them.

Thanks, but both are a bit out of our budget range right now.

Probably 500ish. My wife has never ridden before, so we aren't wanting to get something really nice that i can decorate the garage with if she ends up not liking it.

Fair, I hear you clearly.
Have you checked your local craigslist ads?  There are unusual good bike buys often.

I search the words triathlete, triathlon and triathalon   Just be sure you are not getting a bike that'll be worse than the hydrid or MTB you mention at the start of the thread.   Make sure you get at least 9 sprockets in the back and not too much steel - should be at least aluminum, that'll get her at least a half decent bike.

Good luck!

Thanks. we are going to look at a Trek 1.2 tomorrow that we found on Craigslist. Its local and priced for about 600, but will be negotiable. I think it has less than 50 miles on it.

Back in Jan my GF got her a new trek 1.2 for 700 or 800.  I beleive i saw them on sale last week so you may want to check your local trek store.  You may be able to get a brand new 1.2 for $100 more at you lbs.

Boom

I wish. My LBS is a Schwinn and Trek dealer and they are a joke. Cheapest bike they have is about 900. We checked there already.
