Well... i'm glad you have some answers, at least.

For what it's worth, my dad has been on coumadin for almost two decades and has no activity restrictions whatsoever. It is possible that once they figure out why you're clotting and get that under control, you may be allowed on your bike again.

Best of luck. Please keep us posted.

Been on Coumadin for eight years (since my heart surgery).  My PCP and cardiologist both encourage and support my tri training.  Lots of myths and mis-information out there about Coumadin - a lot of it is BS.  Hope they find the cause of your probs soon.  Listen to your docs, but don't draw any conclusions about your future until you know for sure what's going on.

Thanks all.... Appreciate the support. Maybe coumadin isn't as bad as it's made out to be. They're doing all the testing to try to figure out where it came from. And for the record, these things hurt probably more than any other pain I've experienced

Sending good vibes your way.  Hope everything turns out well.  FWIW...I have a very close friend that is on coumadin for the rest of his life, and he rides...a motorcycle!  Stay positive and never lose hope!

Get well soon. Scary stuff. Sending thoughts and prayers your way. Echoing others, work on dissolving clots, then worry about racing. My guess is you'll do both. It's hard to keep those crazy, athletic-types down for long.

Chris, I'm so sorry you are going through this...I followed your revenge on IMAZ from a distance (no I am not stalking you!) but one thing that really resonates with me is your strong will and determination and I am sure if there is a way to conquer this, you will!  and you have a bunch of people here on BT sending massive positive vibes.  Take care.

I'm very sorry to hear this. One of my best friends had the same thing about six months ago after a surgery. He's now fine and is exercising too. Get well soon!

Wow, Chris, that SUCKS! Hope it resolves quickly. As much as it hurts, better to find out at that stage than a later one.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Major bummer. Get better, and definitely work closely with your docs to find the cause of such clots. It is indeed rare for an active athlete (high level as well) like yourself to develop such problems, so it will be important to find the underlying problem if there is one.

Blood clots suck! (The pain will lessen once you are on the blood thinners for a while though.)

Sorry to hear it, but glad they've identified what's been going on.  Take it all a step at a time...way too soon to start thinking about not cycling again.

So sorry to hear this.  Take care of yourself and get your health back in order first, then consider what you may be able to do safely.  Get well.

Sorry to hear this, Chris, but don't lose hope.  My husband has been on coumadin for years and is still riding a few thousand miles a year, swimming, running, etc.   The only thing that he does less of is mountain biking because of the increased likelihood of crashing (and, therefore, bruising/bleeding.)

Hang in there!

Over?!  Nothing is over until we decide it is!  - John Belusi, Animal House

I don't know the medical condition but I'll second what others have said, get well first and worry about the long term solutions later.

That blows, and it's terrible you have to endure it.

Get better soon, then assess, adapt, and overcome.  Nothing is over until you give up.
