I am too busy worrying about all my new aches and pains.  Also, thinking and re-thinking my nutrition plan.  Should i throw in a red bull in my special needs bag?  i have never tried the stuff, but it seems like a good idea.  Wink

I was talking to an ultra marathon runner that I work with and he swears by red bull. He says to make sure you get the high octane version not the sugar free one. I am going to try it on my 2.5 hour ride Saturday to see how it works.

Just wanted to give an update on the Trakkers units.   Please, please keep in mind that this is a new technology / new device and it is just as important (alright, much, much more important!) to Trakkers (the company) that they get their devices manufactured and out there on athletes as it is for the athletes that want to have the technology while racing.

When we began sign up (months ago) we had been promised a number of units from the manufacturer.   (Trakkers makes the technology but as with most devices the actual manufacturing is outsourced.)   The manufacturer did not come through with anywhere near the number of devices that were originally anticipated.  So, here's how the devices are handed out - Trakkers team members are given devices as it is part of their contract.  After that devices are handed out the the first ones to sign up for them.  They are free at the REV3 races and as soon as Trakkers has a full fleet of devices they will be available for rent for other races.

These are purely for an added bonus - they are not your timing for the race.  I will be one of the ones timing the race at Cedar Point and we will be working to have as many check points as possible out there.  I have raced and spectated iron distances races and I know how hard it is to watch / wait on someone out on the course.

I hope that helps, like I said as soon as the devices are in Trakkers hands they will get them in your hands at the races! Until then trust that REV3 has awesome timers : ) that will be taking care of you on race day.

I hope this is a silly question, but the race guide says no MP3 players, but I really like my Nike+, and I use it with my Nano.  If I have the player, but not the headphones, do you think it's a big deal?  I only need to look at the display here and there.  I don't care if I listen to it.

I just can't get used to wearing a bulky watch, and I like to see my pace.

You may want to email Eric - the race director. USAT rules prohibit the carrying of an MP3 player - but with the Nike+ technology...

I use the wristband - and I'm with you. I had one sensor fizzle out in the start corral of the Quad Cities Marathon - instead of getting the instant feedback on pace, I had to wait until the mile markers, then do the mental math in my head...then I figured out how to use the lap button!

If anyone wants to make sure their family can track their progress the unit I use at all IM's is the www.trackmyathlete.com system.  My wife is doing her 1st full at Cedar point and will be wearing one.  I know trakkers was supposed to give their units free but I wonder if they will be ready or work for that matter.  I did the Rev in knoxville and I was not aware of anyone getting the units.  Anyways good luck to everyone and enjoy the day.

Its officially September and it's about time to start getting pumped up for Rev 3. I had my best month of training this year and hopefully I can actually finish a race this year without ending up spralled across the pavement at some point.

As a member of Team Trakkers, I would like to thank everyone for there interest in the device we are developing. When you are in the testing stage you tend to have limited numbers of devices, so demand has been greater than our limited supply. We are committed to developing a one of a kind product that can serve the needs of both the athlete and their family and friends, and we are very glad to give as many folks as possible the opportuntiy to test out our product and give some feedback. Thank you for your support and we fully expect to have the devices fully developed and ready to go for the next year's Rev 3 races.

For those who were not able to get a device, the Rev 3 team has done a very good job with the race timeing systems and allowing real time updates of your racers progress. Most of the Rev 3 races have had at least as many (if not more) time check points than I've seen on Ironman.com Athlete tracking system. Rev 3 is very committed to ensuring both athletes and their families have a fantastic experience and to date they haven't disappointed.

Rev 3 Cedar Point is almost here and it's going to be a blast. Good luck and have fun and please feel free to come see me and my teamates at the Trakkers Booth.

Andy Rosebrook.

So based on all these Trakkers posts, has everyone who will be given one already been contacted? I registered for one quite some time ago but haven't heard anything, so I'm not optimistic. I usually wear my SPOT, so I'll bring it either way.

I emailed Trakkers yesterday and they said that they will be sending out an email "race week" to let those know who are getting one. The email will contain all of the pertinent details. They would NOT confirm with me as to whether or not I am getting one. Basically it was a we'll contact you kind of thing..

No, pretty sure thats an M dot thing, plus Rev is supposed to be built around a family event, so if they did disqualify that would be pretty hippocritical

I just got a response back from Eric with regard to time tracking splits and  how people can  track you:

"we will have link from our homepage.  We will have multiple splits on the bike and run courses and a halfway split for the full swim course.....  We will have computer kiosks at our timing trailer in the expo for those on site to look up racers too."

So even if you're not lucky enough to have one of the Trakkers, friends/family should still be able to get an idea of where we're at on the course.

Ok, does anyone know for sure where we go exactly for the expo, packet pick-up, REV3 stage.. I have searched and searched in the athlete guide and can't find a map or a description of where we go. Am I to believe that this will all be inside of Hotel Breakers?? How about the transition areas?? Does anyone know where those will be? For the full and the half?? I'm mapping out my days for Friday and Saturday and this would be helpful information to have! Thank you so much!!

I am almost positive everything is at Breakers. When you walk out of the hotel towards the lake, they have a beach and the lake is there. We should be swimming right there.  I would think the transition should be close.

I think I remember reading somewhere that transition would be in a parking lot somewhere over by the Breakers.

smoak, don't count on a changing tent for the half  ( ).  I don't know of any half that has one.

You're welcome! I didn't mean to make it huge - I was just copying and pasting from the website.

Transition is in the big front parking lot, the part closest to the water.

Also, I have a message from Eric at Rev3, who is working his butt off this week, of course.

"Please let everyone know that their questions will all be answered when they arrive on site.  Everything will be clear and it will all work out just fine.  We won't let anyone down."

Also, you can check the Athlete Guide, which is here in case it wasn't emailed to you:
http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=2782580&msgid=244082&act=ZZO6&c=548893&destination=http%3A%2F%2Frev3tri.com%2Fpdfs%2FcedarPointProgramGuide%2Frev3_cp.pdf

There's a transition/expo map on Page 9.
On Page 28, there's a map of the park that shows where the Finish Line is in relation to stuff in the park.

My attitude is, I could do this course alone with a $10 bill and a Camelbak. Anything else is just icing on the cake. I know they are going to do a great job.

Thanks Alice!

A few quick things.....

There is nothing at Breakers (except your beds). The swim start is behind Breakers and FREE access to the finish line is in the back entrance along the boardwalk near Breakers.

Everything else is located at the expo. When you drive in, you can't miss us. We are taking the whole right side of the parking lot. You will have ample time to check out transition and develop your strategy.

For all those staying in the park......NO BIKING OR RUNNING at all PLEASE from your hotel. We will have signs posted. You have to do all your running and biking on the "chaussee"....aka Cedar Point Rd....aka....the back road. That means you have to drive around to the front of the park to do this....sorry!! Their rule, not ours. Or you can do your rides/runs away from the park. You can NOT bike or run on the causeway either...aka the main entrance road. Please respect the neighbors and cars on the "chaussee". They are a little finicky and the owner of the park lives there. They aren't happy with us turning their road to a one-way street on race day so we need to keep them happy.

Please feel free to run down the finish chute with your kids, grandmother, pets, cousins......REV3 is all about the family. Please just be respectful of your fellow competitors who probably want a finish line picture without your family in it

We are excited to see you and meet you all next week.

I probably won't be able to get on here much anymore or even answer too many questions via email at this point. Trust me, that your questions will be answered when you get to Cedar Point. Athlete briefings are scheduled at 2 and 4pm on Saturday so this will be a good opportunity for you to learn about the last minute things you haven't already picked up from the athlete guide!

Best of luck!!!!

Eric
