All right, my friends, I lost the Ride Lots bet between Bear and I. I rode a very respectable 300.8 miles (especially considering that my previous monthly high in March was only 113 miles). I'm proud of what I did and lost fair and square to Bear's absolutely amazing total of 900+ miles.

Lessons learned:

  • There's a reason why they call it the 10% rule and not the 300% rule.
  • Burnout sucks..... Increase your mileage wisely.
  • When you get burnt out, take a week off. It won't hurt anything and will fix just about everything.
  • Sometimes it's worth pushing yourself too far so you know where too far is.
  • Pushing yourself too far pushes 'too far' out farther. I can do way more now than I could had I followed my training plan this month.
  • Biking makes hot quads. I've never had quads before in my life. They're there now!

Now before I post this picture, I want you boys to think of the landlady from the movie 'Kingpin'. Focus.... focus..... ok. Now I'll post it.

Impressive. That upper back work appears to be paying off! (Trying not to comment on the lower back )

Got to admit I was impressed with your total, I figured you could stretch things out to 200 miles (which is why I put that limitation in there), but by mid-month I was deathly afraid you would win. Wasn't intended to burn you out, but I think that shows what kind of drive you have to meet any challenge that comes your way.

Hope you shoot for 400 this month, with a lot of hills to get you ready for the Tour de Cure ride.

I've already ordered my 2'X3' poster, and posted it to sixteen different discussion boards. Who knows, you might be the next Paris Hilton.

I'm hoping to make the Hottie Thread on Slowtwitch.... (JUST. KIDDING.)

And what upper body work? LOL! Seriously, that's just me (I don't even swim that much). I should be in body-building, not tris. I got dumped once for having a 'big back'. I shoulda body slammed his dumb a$$.

Kim, I liked the picture so much that I removed Jessi Stensland from my background and put yours up instead!  Can you post the flip side of that picture next ... not you upside down, but the front view!  Thanks ... :-)

Thanks! I just got it touched up and I love it! This is the best I have for a close up.... not real close, I know.

It looks all squashed, but it's not, that's just my shoulder blade pushing on it.

Great job!

Tell your boyfriend not to be pissed, but be proud. You look great, and it looks like (based on some of your earlier pictures) you're improving steadily.

Just wait until the swim challenge is over..you'll have lots more company, regardless of who wins!

Very impressive... not just the pic, but the fact that you didn't flinch at payin' up.

I'm sure after a short break from cycling, you'll be feeling a whole lot stronger!!

I think I speak for all of us (including "the bear") when I say I'm much happier to see you in that pose than the alternate model

As to the former, I wouldn't go that far. I'm pretty hoss, but there are some incredibly hoss chicks on this site who have a lot more to deal with than I.

As for the latter, I tell him every day.

Of course, no one would throw the swim competition for this kind of "punishment", would they?

Clap, clap, clap!!!  Way to go, Kim.  Thanks to you and Bear for inspriring us to bigger, better, biking things.  I had never ridden so far in my life.  When I first signed on, I meant that I wanted to ride 250 for the whole month, not three weeks.  Instead of whining, I sucked it up, and now "too far" is a little farther away for me.  (I'm sure that the numbness will dissipate sometime this month.)

Great pic Kim. You look great and are a good sport. The challenge was a lot of fun thanks to both you and the Bear for allowing us all to join in on the fun. I totally understand the feeling of being burnt without the challenge I'm not sure I would have gotten back on my bike after the 9th of last month. Hang in there taking some time off or doing some easy rides with lots of scenery should help.

By the way, I really like seeing my name listed as a stud in your signature.
