Just entered this tri and wanted to see if any other BTers needed to discuss although the race is Sunday. Did the Olympic version last year with TriCat Sports. This one's shorter all around and promises a flat trail run. The bike's the same as the Olympic, just one less loop. One relatively short but steep climb after the first mile in that loop. Comments? Questions? Who's racing?

Would do it but am doing Boiling Springs which is on the following Sat. Last year I did BS, got a flat, immediately snapped the valve on the spare tube and DNFed. I have unfinished business, so am puttting total attention to BST. Have gotten numerous flats since then, and CO2, so I am ready.

Hey, I hear ya. If it wasn't for some other considerations this year, I'd be doing Northeast Olympic Tri again this year. Last year, I had a hub problem on the back just after I started the race and the cassette came loose. When I tried to tighten it up, it kept slipping and still coming loose. I had no choice but to DNF. :-( It was really quite heart wrenching as I had a decent swim and a good T1, better than the year before. Well, maybe next year. :-) Good luck at BS!

I live in Dover so I am very close to this event.  Unfortunately, I'm in Rhode Island right now and I won't get home until Sunday night.  I'll be at Pinchot for the Oly in Sept.  Good luck everyone.  Let me know how the lake is.  I know people complained about seaweed in the lake last year but I know they had it drained down a lot earlier in the year.  I'm not sure if that will cause any change or not.

Yeah, hit the seaweed last year during the Oly. Look for my race report next week sometime to see how it was for this race.

Dave,

How was the seaweed?  I am thinking about ordering one of the Xterra suits and seeing if I can find someone to do an OWS at Pinchot with me.

The XTERRA suits are great. I just got mine a few weeks ago. The USAT branded ones are the XTERRA Vortex 3, but some of the money goes to support USAT - if you care about that.

Unfortunately, I'm in the field for work until Sept 12th so I can't join you for an OWS until then but if you'd like to do some in a few weeks let me know.

No problemo! Didn't hit any where we swam. It was a decent swim.

Great!  I look forward to it.  I want the water to be nice.. I'm a slow swimmer so I plan on being in the water for a while.  ha!
