I used one of the advertisments on this forum to pick up some shorts(my first pair).  Well, Im not sure if there too big, too little, or what but my "bulge" is WAY more descriptive then my wife thinks it should be.  They are black and not super tight.   Is this typical and she just needs to get over it?  Im not really modest but i also dont want to offend anyone!   Kinda seems like they should be alittle thicker????

Yeah, I think thats typical but varies by brand. It should be really snug, without 'gaps' in the crotch area. Also the padding in that area is thinner with less surface area then traditional tri shorts. Dont forget the shrinkage factor from the swim.

Seriously, think of them like a cross between a speedo and cycling shorts.

Tell you what, after your first race think back and try to remember what damn near anyone looked like in lycra. If you're doing it right, that'll be quite the chore.

Don't sweat it and go have fun in the sausage casing!

It could be worse.... the guys in speedo brief for the whole race. I remember those guys.  But only cause there in front of me ....  but then they disapear...

Try this, pack a gel or a gu, maybe even a banana in the front of those shorts, whip it out in T1 before the bike... that'll give em somethign to talk about.  Apart from that, just pimp it man...

FYI I think you just convinced me to buy a pair, and I convinced myself to buy some bananas.

"2nd Skin"  Might as well be.......Surprised

I was talking to my bro about it(he used to be a semi pro cyclist).  He just giggled alot...........
Ive seen him in alot of cycling shorts and he doesnt seem to have this problem.  Not that I look, but i have noticed......  Just a clean bulge.  Are cycling only shorts thicker?   He also says he "tucks his "member"".  Wait!  My shirt wont even stayed tucked in while I sit at my desk all day, so hows the stuff supposed to stayed tucked while doing a tri?
From the front its just 3D discriptive, From the side its a rediculus profile!!!   And Im not the "Man" by any means.  Well, im not that I know of.  I try not to notice those types of things!

Is the ad that you used the one for Aevero?

If so, I noticed that their newest tri shorts are a lot thinner and "more descriptive " than they used to be, and a lot moreso than any of the other brands of tri shorts I own.  I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them in a race.

They're almost like old jammers that have been worn in the pool way too many times - loose and clingy.

The older shorts from Aevero were great and I wore them for 2 races without problem.  Still some of my favorites for training etc.  It's a shame because their customer service is fantastic and I would love to support them but, well... they don't support me

If you're not talking about Aevero, then pretend I didn't just waste 2 mins of your life.

I'm sure the OP is referring to Aevero Tri Shorts.  They are $30 w/ a free gift compared to $60 and up that most Tri shorts cost.  I'm not surprised they are thin.

I was just going to order a pair but couldn't quite pull myself to order.  I figured there had to be something about them that they were 1/2 the price of the next lowest price.

Really?  I left them a message last night and still have not heard back from them.  I also tried calling twice today and only get a recording.

By the sounds of it, I'm glad I didn't get a hold of them.  I'm a little too modest for skimpy shorts.

My tri shorts leave nothing to the imagination either..   not exactly a good sport for modesty.

Yes.  They are Aeveros.
So I might not have this issue with some different shorts?   Any suggestions?

All Tri shorts will show a bump.  Most do not give you a detailed structure of your privates.

Just like cycling shorts, some give you more modesty then others.  None are truly modest.

Heh, there has to be something odd about those shorts...because I've done quite a bit of looking at races...and the most I can ever tell is that the person wearing the shorts is male.  Occasionally I can tell which way they tuck.  It would be a lot more fun to go to races if you could see more than that.

Though I think us BT women should start a petition requiring the wear of these specific shorts at all triathlons for our entertainment....

What are some good tri short brands that I can find online? I live near Austin, so I might try one of those tri shops.
