Grrr, why wouldn't I happen to read an article like this  just as my endless internal roadie vs TT bike debate was finally leaning firmly toward a roadie?

Can someone elaborate on the power output differences between a road bike and a tri bike?  I'm seeing some posts indicating that they don't experience much of a difference between the two and some that see a drop in power going from a road to tri bike.  Not talking the aero aspect, just power.  Why wouldn't the power output be relatively equal?  Or why can't roughly equal power be generated on a tri bike?

Power can be equal, if not greater. It's a matter of bike fit, acclimation, and in some cases the choice of bike. While my peak power is similar on my road and tri bikes, my sustained power output is higher on a tri bike. And it's higher on my Wilier then it is on my Yaqui. The Wilier is a stiffer bike with better power transfer.

Jorge... have any place in particular I should be looking?

http://www.competitivecyclist.com/road-bikes/product-accessories/2009-cycleops-power-tap-compdt-rr-1.1-complete-wheel-5905.44.1.html

$659.99 new with wheel!

Jorge (or anyone else) have you dealt with competitivecyclist before???  I've looked at the site before but hadn't seen anyone mention them before so was looking for anyone with some experience with them.

And yeah I saw that article in my email also and was really trying to figure out how to afford a powertap NOW instead of "later"....was hoping to go wireless or really copy Dr Pete's setup buuutttt I just don't have the funds so for $660 for a complete power set-up........and for $100 more add a wheelbuilder cover and have a powertap "disc" set-up to race with......................hmmmmmmmm (and since this thread was about aero).

I bought my P2C from Competitive Cyclist and would recommend them without hesitation. They're an AWESOME shop. In fact, they fit me better over the phone/internet using their fit calculator than the Cervelo dealer in town...
