Hmm actually on the Red Rock Upcoming Race page it says 26.5mi bike, but when you look at the course description, it says two loops of approx 12.1 miles...

If there is one thing that is as consistent as the sun rising in the east, it is that Red Rock bike courses
are very rarely actually the same as what you expect or they advertise.

I suspect the SOMA half course is spot on. Other than that, Nathan's and the SOMA quarter (which now
no longer exists) have always been a random distance close to what they advertise, but a mile or two
off one way or the other.

Anyone going to the clinics that they offer before the races - I believe the first one in Wed, Sept 9th. Realize that i have a lot of work to do before the race - not training work but in all the transition details etc...yikes!

We're having an informal transition practice on Sunday, Sept. 13 at Granada Park if you're interested in practicing transitions and getting some more tips. See the Transition Practice and Swap Meet thread in this forum for more info...

Subject: Any swimmers want to join a team for Nathans TRI
Hello,

I have to relocate to D.C. for a new job. I set up a team with two friends of mine but can't go due to job relocation. I was supposed to do the swimming leg, we have a biker and a runner. They both are really good athletes. We have already paid the fee. All the person has to do is race. We could all meet for coffee for a meet and greet or meet the day before at packet pickup. My friends Mario will bike and Allison will run, its a mixed relay. So if any body knows anyone, e-mail me at [email protected] My name is Matt by the way, take care.

Hmmm.....wetsuit or no wetsuit?  I suspect it will magically be 78 Sunday morning if it doesn't get there before.

Anyone who did the PBR last year, do you recall what the water temp was?  I did a wetsuit for that and was fine and I thought it was near the temp limit.

You never know what they'll decide. I just hope that if it is wetsuit legal that they make the announcement in enough time to get the damn thing on!

I know, I better drag mine out and soak it since it hasn't been used since May.

you guys, you can use your wetsuit as long as the water temp isnt above 82 degrees.  Wetsuit "Legal" are for those who plan on taking the top spots in their age groups.

Good Luck to all racers!!!!!

The last race I was at they determined that it would not be wetsuit legal. They said that if you wore your WS that you could still compete but that anybody who did would not receive an official time or splits for transitions and SBR.

But....but....this might be the race where everything goes right and I suddenly become fast!  Or everyone else in my AG falls ill or has some horrific mechanical issue preventing them from completing the race.

Hey everyone!
Getting excited for the race on Sunday...some nerves but just did the Splash N Dash tonight so I feel a bit better knowing what I am getting myself in to! The water was great...I don't plan on wearing a wetsuit but they let those that had them wear them. Are any BTers meeting anywhere after the race? If I don't see anyone, good luck everyone!!!!!

OMG I have two cases of 64 I need to unload!! Wish I could come down there with it.  But alas my need for a long bike ride trumps bringing you guys beer after the race.  I WILL be there for SOMA, though....so don't despair.

I will be doing Nathan's OLY as planned. I checked with Dean and he would be upset if I DIDN'T do the race.

He plans on being at the finish line on Sunday, and will be down there for a little bit on Saturday to pick up his T-shirt and goodie bag. BTW, when is everyone planning to rack their bikes and pick up their stuff? I'm planning to attend the noon athlete's meeting without Dean, and then bringing him back later for his stuff so he doesn't have to wait on me...
