Last year I waited a week too late to register and the @#$%^ sold-out.  Signed-up early this week and have since heard that there are less than 70 slots left.  As many of you know, Jim Rainey does not extend the registration list to meet demand and when an event sells out, it sells out.

A change since I last did the race is that you have to check your bike in the night before ... boo! That means that I will likely spend more time driving back and forth to the race than actually doing the race itself!  (Guessing that he did this at the behest/requirement of the resort in order to sell more hotel rooms?)

Regardless, if this race is on your list and you have not registered then you better sign-up now.  It is a great end-of-season race that is spectator + family friendly.

I saw that the same bike check in applies to Tri2Remember. I was going to do it but to drive back and forth to Gainesville 2x will take about 4 times the actual race will take. Why the packet pick up only on Friday??? Traffic is bad and many people probably can't even get up there by 7pm on Friday.

I may do the Navigator Sprint in Summerville that day instead. Anyone done it?

I did a trail marathon there.  It's a nice park with a small lake.  I can't figure out how it is a 500 yard swim though.  If they stay in the valley, then the course will be hilly.  If they go up into the hills, the course will be very tough.

I'm signed up this will be my first. I was getting nervous since I couldn't get signed up through active online so I mailed it in. Got an email from Active saying that I was signed up but the check didn't clear for over a month. Was just about to call when I finally saw it cleared.

Unfortunately got achilles tendonitis about 5 weeks ago on a work trip, 13 hour car ride and then running in the morning apparently a bad idea...  Keep staying off it but then it comes back so started PT today. They want another two weeks off it then say i should be fine but right now not trusting anyone, worst case I'll swim bike crawl... I am NOT missing my first race

I did the Navigator last year. The swim is about the same distance as what you'd find at a Lanier Tri. No beach, so in water start. The bike is rolling, but i wouldn't call it hilly. It's a loop on small back roads, mostly outside the park. The run is inside the park and pretty hilly. The first 2 miles are trail, last mile is road. The first mile on the trail feels like it is straight up the mountain. I struggled to maintain forward momentum going up the rutted mountain trail.

It was a nice little tri. Small crowd, very clubby feel.

And just so this doesn't feel like a complete hijack - I got shut out of LL Tri last year too so I registered way early this year. I don't like the day before rule either (irongirl made me do it too), but at least it's a Sat so it's not impossible.

There aren't that many races to choose from that time of year, so I grudgingly signed up for LL - two round trips from College Park? Oy.

Beggers can't usually be choosers..

All of the roads inside the park were resurfaced are are smooth as glass! Can't say the same outside the park. Still the best sprint race of the season IMO!

I'll be there doing a relay with Team Invesco.  A quick dip in the water, a short stroll up the hill, and I'll be done for the day..
