Subject: 2009 Cervelo P2 or 09 Felt B12 ---Both Good, which one?
O.k., first off thanks for all of the great help!  Was fitted today tried both bikes, problem is they both fit good I would not say one was better than the other.

This will be my first tri bike coming from a roadie.

I can get either the Cervelo P2, or Felt B12 for 2700.  The Cervelo (not the DA version)
So my question is when it comes down to it they both feel good, which way do you go?

Anybody have any expierence with both bikes?
Last minute thoughts?

Thanks again for putting up with all of my questions

Buy it a year or two used. with the extra $$, get a good set of wheels with a powertap or similar, and a disc cover for the back wheel, and an aero helmet.

I would not tell someone to get a power tap-Total pieces of ****...I was in my LBS 2 days ago and they were all ranting about how every person that has one has problems with them...

I would go with the P2.  I dont think that you can get a better bike for the price.

X2. Fastest, best fitting tri bike I've owned in my limited career, and I'm still working on my fit (taking out spacers, etc.).

YMMV.

"Every year one bike shines above the others: Best value, best frame, best component spec, best color scheme. It may be any combination of factors that make the bike special. But every year, one bike nails it.

This year it is the new 2009 Felt B12. "

The 40mm clincher TTR3 wheels on the Felt are "aero wheels" and are a nice upgrade over most OEM wheels.  IMHO, that a check in the B12 camp.

From Bikesports review
"A pleasant surprise on the new B12 is the Felt TTR3 aero wheelset. This is a 40mm deep, “V” section aero race wheel with 20 bladed aerodynamic spokes laced radially in the front and 24 spokes laced cross two drive side, radial non-drive on the rear wheel. There is a lot of value in this wheel spec. To do better on wheel spec you would have to spend two-thirds of the price of the entire bike on wheels alone, upgrading to Zipp or Hed race specific wheels without this level of durability. The TTR3 aero wheels on the B12 do double duty as every day training wheels but have aerodynamic features like bladed spokes and deep section aero rims to save time on race day. These wheels are faster than the race specific wheelset I used to race my first Ironman. These wheels are not as light as purpose built race wheels, but the added weight is spent well to provide everyday, all road durability."

oh I should add I fancy the B12's color scheme!

Highly recommend the B12. Bought it this year and have not had any issues. I was facing the same dilema between the B12 and P2, and couldn't be happier with my decision

Like you I fitted and tested both bikes. I loved the FELT, but I ended up buying the P2. Can't say why I went that route but I can tell you i'm happy as a pig in- well, you know.....

Either way you can't go wrong. Felt is a quality company as well as Cervelo

Everything being equal....I'll go on looks and say the Felt.  Silver/Black wins over Red/Grey.

That's what someone told me as my Red/grey left them in the dust. ;^)

Coming at this from another angle since I have zero experience on either bikes or even a tri bike for that matter. If you are looking at 2 bikes from 2 different shops, how do you feel about the shop itself.

My last roadie I purchased was between a Specialized and a Trek. I was leaning towards the Trek and the service I recieved at the Trek dealer solidified my choice. Just another way to look at things.

OK thanks for all the great input....Im crazy going back ONE last time to ride both and then pulling the trigger.....This is keeping me up all night every night!  Reading, then re reading, and then just for good measure re reading the same articles/posts again....yep, then again....

I understand the definition of INSANITY is doing the same thing over and over, but....I don't have anything beyond that...

Hopefully this quest will be over tomorrow....

I was trying decide between the same 2 bikes a month ago.  I decided on the Felt, only to find out it wasn't available in my size anymore this year.

I like my P2 but still wish is was a Felt.  I think the cable routing just makes the Felt look neater/cleaner.

I really think the B12 is great value, BUT I am having problems.  There is a serious design flaw with this bike.  When I turn the handlebars to the far right or left when putting it in my car or carrying through transition, the brake mechanism grinds into the frame.  The fork also rubs into the frame.  The result is a chipped frame and a chipped up fork.  The bike is 4 months old and I just got my selling bike shop talking with Felt. It is ridiculous that a new bike over $3,000 (or any price) has an issue with it's own parts grinding it's beautiful carbon frame.  Bad for longetivity.

I got the P2 ultegra this year and love it.  I was in the same boat as you.  Both bikes are nice and I don't believe you could go wrong with either one.

Go with whichever bike feels better to you.  They are both great bikes and essentially just as fast as each other.  You can't really make a wrong choice.

I was just in the shop today checking out both these bikes.  Both feel the same, the reason I would lean towards the B12 is because the P2 came with a FSA Crank and would have been additional to upgrade to the Ultegra so the additional cost may have swayed my decision.  The B12 felt great and I love the looks.  I also saw they had a B2 which is a bit more spendy but also looked and rode very well.

Please let us know your choice, I hope to be making a purcahse shortly and just need to make my decision
