Used to get 8.5-9 hours per night. That makes an enormous difference in recovery since it's during the deep sleep you recover.
The last few years, I only get about 6-7 hours on average and very little deep sleep (due to a medical issue). This means that I can't train as hard and even though I'm much stronger than before, I can't maintain the power output for as long, basically staying at the same average power over a longer distance.
I'm in bed between 9 and 10 and I'm up at 3.
Weekends/holidays I'm in bed between 9 and 10 and I'm up between 3 and 4.
The day after my HIMs and the day I had pneumonia I slept 8 hours at a shot. The rest of the time it's about 5-6 hours.
uhhh..4 kids 5 and under, one of which is 10 months you do the math...that "they sleep through the night thing" is an urban legend...oh and since I am in my 40s it's rougher than on the youngsters lol!!!
