Gu will be bringing out a new flavor for the holidays, Vanilla Gingerbread.  Tried one this morning ....... quite tasty!!  I was a little leery of what it would be like, but I am mildly surprised how good it is!  (Not usually my sort of flavor).

They are also bringing out a new ROctane flavor without caffeine for the people who prefer not to use gels with caffeine.  This is Pineapple.  I had one the other day and it was good as well!

I only have unmarked samples, so not sure when they will have packaging ready and put them out to market.  But definitely worth keeping your eye out for along with the new Gu Brew.

That was one of their other holiday flavors and it usually gets pretty good reviews.  Everyone's palette is different.

They should make a mar-GU-rita flavored one.

I believe that both the vanilla-gingerbread Gu and the pineapple Roctane are caffeine-free.  I haven't tasted them yet (tomorrow is my long bike) but will post the results in my log.  FWIW, I love the chocolate-mint holiday flavor.

Correct.  The reason I pointed out the ROctane as being caffeine free is because the other two ROctane flavors do have it, so this will be the first one without.

I think you'll like them!

Is the Roctane one straight pineapple or is it mixed with some other flavor like the other ones?  I use the Blueberry Pomogrante, and really like it.  Interesting that it is caffeine free.  Thanks for the heads up.

Heh.. funny how people differ on the taste. I have to choke down the Blueberry Pom flavored ones.

I like the Mint-Chocolate a lot more during the holidays.  I buy a ton of it. Through the year I can take them prior to exercise but it's hard to get down when it's smoking hot out. They seem to have less mositure than the other flavors...

On a related note, has anyone tried the EFS 400 calorie liquid shot from First Endurance? I liked the idea so I ordered a few when they first came out. I used one the other day and it was like trying to drink a whole bottle of Kaopectate. Not pleasant. Nothing against Kaopectate...

I will certainly have to get my hands on some vanilla gingerbread. Love me some vanilla bear and orange burst. Obviously Vanilla orange is damn good too.

That one is my FAVORITE!!!

I'd love to see a cinnamon one that tastes like Hot Tomales candy   And it would give you nice breath too.

I have the GU chocolate, at 4:45 AM twice a week (swim mornings) right after getting out of bed, even before coffee.

Vanilla gingerbread sounds yummy.  Chocolate mint is my all time favorite and I buy cases of it around the holidays.  Yum!

They were both very good.  The pineapple ROctane tastes like pineapple lifesavers (in a good way).  The vanilla gingerbread was a little thicker in texture (not as thick as the chocolate flavors, though) but very tasty.  The ginger flavor was very nice.

The official word from GU Energy at Interbike is three new flavors. Vanilla Gingerbread GU (just for the holidays), Pineapple Roctane (no caffeine), and Blackberry GU (so new that the package design has not been developed...it simply says "NEW FLAVOR"). Also, if you are a fan of the Mint Chocolate GU, you will be happy to know that it will be available all-year not just at the holidays.
