Subject: RE: how much do you taper before a race? I take a day or two off before from running or biking, but I'll swim. I'll also stretch, hot tub and core workout it. It all depends where one is on their fitness, a person in great shape training for Oly 's and HIM may not take any time off, its a hard workout. Others would benefit with a 20-50 reduction in volume for the week like a recovery week. Shorter distances with race pace builds are ideal. The week for me is more about practicing, if the bike course involves U turns or the such, practice turns on the bike that involve shifting and braking and acceleration. And don't forget about running with the bike to get on and off for the transitions, etc. |
