Subject: It's true run more = run faster! I've read it a hundred times here so I decided to go run focused for awhile to see if I can get some speed. I'm a slooooowwwww runner and probably always will be on the slower side but I know I can be faster than I am. I've been truly run focused for about 4 weeks running 3-4 days a week (previously I was really only doing 1-2 days per week ). When I was released to start working out again the first week of August I did a 13:45 minute mile (don't laugh too hard I told you I was slow! ). Today I completed a 5k at an 11:45 minute pace just 7 weeks later and I was not the last of the runners coming in. I started as a snail and now am a turtle pace wise but you know, I'm doing it. And I'm looking forward to seeing where I'm at in another few months as I continue on this run focused schedule in an attempt at bettering next seasons tri performance. And I wanted to show people that the theory of running more miles to run faster really does work. So, thank you to all of you who take the time to re-post this old adage every time someone posts the question (which I didn't but I do read and learn ). I know some of you get annoyed every time the question is asked but the advice really is helpful and much appreciated. |
