Subject: Removing triathlon body marking?
I was marked at my triathlon yesterday with a more indelible body marker - one that didn't wear off after the wetsuit swim (which usually happens.) I used isopropyl alcohol, soap, water, and even SimpleGreen, and it's not coming off.

Any other recommmendations?

Why not just leave it on until it comes off itself?

Wear it with pride, otherwise a light grit sandpaper may help (just kidding). Wink

Best part of a triathlon - walking around afterwards showing your markings

leave it alone it'll wear off in time (or when you next stack your bike and leave your skin on the road )

I do some good scrubbing with soap in the shower. After 2 or 3 and it will be almost completely gone. It will last a day or 2 and give you something to brag about.

Yeah, I never figured out why sometimes it washes off and is gone by the time you reach the finishline and other times, you can scrub with boric acid and a brillow plad and still can't get it off.  Leaving it on is tacky....kinda like going to work Monday morning with your cover charge bar stamp on your hand.

BTW, whateverthehell they use to do the markings must be the same as doctors use.  I had knee surgery Friday and the doc scribbled on my knee with a marker and I can't get that off for love nor money.

LOL!  I was just thinking:

"Tell them: 'The warden uses these to keep track of us..... I SHOWED HIM!  Do you have a hacksaw for these ankle chains?'"

I used hot water and soap and I used a little bit of a cleaner called Mr Pumice.  It's a pretty soft pumice stone.  It worked great.

How well I remember my first triathlon........and the RD giving all of us newbs specific instructions to put the marks on as thickly as possible. That way, he said, when you go back to work on Monday and everybody asks what the heck those marks are you can just casually say" Oh, I did a triathlon on the weekend....." as you walk away nonchalantly!!

Baby Oil and then shower with soap and a washcloth.
I actually know this because it was how we got bar stamps off of us after a pub crawl that required you to get a "passport" stamp.  After the first three, they started to venture away from the hand.

I have never tried that hard to get marking off of me from a race.  Of course, I write my donors name on my open calf for every race, since she is the reason I am there anyway.

My first body marking will come on Sunday. I plan to cover mine with saran wrap so it will last forever! but...I have had luck removing those sticky tatoos with baby oil. Might be worth a tri. Also fingernail polish remover usually works for everything.

I've tried it all and finger nail polish is a close second.  But the best thing is soap, a cheap washcloth, and elbow grease.  I often go to the gym after a race and shower, and their less-than-soft towels really do the trick.  Hasn't failed me yet!

I enjoyed sporting mine around.  But it kinda got annoying after everyone at my work asked what it was.  The markings on my arms came off quickly on their own.  But it took a couple days of scrubbing for my knees and calves.

I did not put enough sun block on for my first Tri and the sun was out pretty good.
Got home washed off markings with Dawn dish soap.
Toweled off and you see the "Negative image" in the mirror.
I went sleeveless for the next 4 days, my wife said i was pretty insufferable.

My daughter did a kids triathlon last year and her numbers washed off by the end of the weekend.  So she wrote the numbers back on before going to school on Monday morning!

I dabble some vaseline on a kleenex and the markings come off easily.  I accidentally discovered this when I was applying vaseline as lube before race.

Mine are usually gone by the time I’m out of T1. I’d like a tip for making them last longer.
