Well, I'm stealing this from the other triathlon website (hey, we can take the good ideas and leave the bad), but I really like hearing who's racing and where because I get to see what other races are out there and it's a chance for everyone to send out good racing vibes to the racers Unfortunately, still no races for me this weekend So tell us about your race:

Race Name
Location
Distance
Goals for the race?
Anything special or unique about the race?

Good luck to everyone and have fun!

Its not a triathlon but I have a 10k race. Its in Ottawa for the National Capital race weekend.

Its my first race ever so I just want to get used to the race atmosphere. It will help me to get ready for my first tri mid June. I currently run a 6min/km pace for a 10k. My main goal is to work on my race pace. I would like to run it in 50-55 minutes.

Not me, but my four year old daughter is doing her first race tomorrow night. It's a 1/2 mile kid's fun run in Portland, ME. We've been doing a lot of speed intervals and tempo work, and I think she's right at peak (kidding, kidding!).

Good luck to all!

2nd Annual "Got the Nerve" triathlon on Sat. in Mt. Gretna PA.  It's my first this year and second ever. 500 yrd swim, 14.8 bike and 5k run. I focused on all base training since last November so it will be interesting to see how I do. I'd like to do it under 1:30 but that might be a little aggressive.
Any one else doing this race?

Capital of Texas Olympic distance on Monday in Austin.

My goal is to go under 3 hours: 30 minutes on the swim (2:00/100m), 1:22 on the bike (18mph), and 53 minutes on the run (8:30 miles). Those come out to 2:49, which leaves me 11 minutes for transisitions. In reality, I should be a little bit faster on both the swim and the bike and my transistions should only take about 5 minutes total. So I'm hoping to actually go under 2:45, but we'll see. I just need to make sure I don't go out too quick on the swim and bike.

This is only my second tri, the first being a very short 300m, 11mi, 2mi race a few weeks ago. This is a bit longer!

Good luck with the race. I guess yours is on Sunday morning. Hope the weather isn't too bad! I know there is another montrealer, Wookie, who is doing the Ottawa marathon on Sunday.

By the way, you should receive a PM in the next few minutes.

There is a 10k on Sat that I might run.  I didn't register early and now it's $30 so I'm thinking a might sleep in a little instead.  Who knows...I'll see how I feel about it Friday night.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. Especially to anyone who is doing their 1st tri ever. Just remember to have fun and stay relaxed. You're taking an adventure that the other 95% of America will never get to enjoy, so you don't need to worry about time unless it makes the event even more fun for you!!!

Distance - 1500m, 40k, 10k
Goals for the race? - finish- really I initially started with the idea of doing it in under 3 hours, but I really don't care.... If I can simply finish a Olympic Distance Trithlon... I will truly feel like a BMF
Anything special or unique about the race? - 1st Olympic Race. 2nd Overall Race.. This is the Race they got me interested in triathlon all together. I almost took it easy and went for the Sprint, but I'm glad I signed up for the Oly.

You sound just like me, BMF. This is the race I was originally training for, now it'll be my second. I'd like to go under 3 and think it's reasonable, but just finishing will also be a big deal to me.

About the hardcore training, tempo work, etc, yes I was kidding. About the race in general, no, not kidding. This has totally been her thing. Since watching me doing races for the last year, she has wanted to do a race, and at least once a week has been asking me to take her to the track and asking how soon til she can do a race.  A few weeks back, she ran a mile at the track, with only a few short walk breaks, and I had to stop her from doing more, so I think she's ready! I swear I'm not one of those ubercompetitive sports parents - we let her do what she wants. She is pretty tall and leggy for her age, so I think that helps.
