Michael,

I'd forgotten that we are bringing two of our friends.. would it be a problem to add them to our dinner reservations? or just squeeze them in?

Let me know if it'll be a problem..

Thanks

Don't think it will be a problem to squeeze them in.

There is a slight chance that I might not be there Saturday evening. My best friend is claiming she wants to come visit, but we'll wait and see if it actually happens.

I already emailed sportspectrum with this question.. but I imagine that they are swamped right now and might not make it to my question so I figured maybe someone here who was at rivercites last year can help me out..

I'm trying to get as much information for my wife and our friends to know what to expect when they show up to watch. most specifically the after party..

will they be expected to pay for food? will they be able to eat any of the food?

I'd hate to bring them all over only to have to sit and watch everything and not be able to participate in the fun..

Thanks

I'll be able to visit at Subway for a little bit, then I'm off to my in-laws' 60th anniversary reception followed by attending a wedding. You'll be able to recognize me because I'll be a little overdressed for Subway. I'll also be the one chain smoking virtual Virginia Slims. Not getting a bit nervous....Nope.

Waskelton, I don't know if anybody answered you with respect to setting up a tent thingie (don't know the name for it), yes, there will be room. With respect to food, the marina will be open (really close to the transition area) and they have all sorts of food and drinks. I can personally recommend the black angus cheeseburgers.

I don't know that much about the race site food. I know they had a lot last year but I wasn't in the mood to eat after totally blowing up on the run. I know the smaller races around here are very accommodating to families and encourage them to eat the food, but I honestly don't know if that extends to families of 1300 racers. Regardless, the marina should take care of their food and beverage needs during the race.

See you soon!

All you River Cities veterans, I have a quick question.  Is it wise to bring my Camelbak for the bike portion of the race?  I normally don't use it for shorter rides, but after reading Michael's book (particularly the part about his dehydration episode at River Cities) and after checking the weather, I wonder if it would be wise to have it for the race Sunday.  Is anyone else using a hydration pack?  Will I be the official "Dork of River Cities"??

OldAg, you won't be the only one there with a camelback. Just looking at the wave starts (the last one starts at 8:50), the last wave won't even start the run until around 10:15, so yeah, everybody needs to figure out hydration on the bike. If that means a camelback, so be it.

Since I will be picking my packet up tomorrow to avoid the rush on Saturday, anyone opposed to me posting what SWAG you get when you pick up your packet or had you rather be suprised?

Doesn't bother me at all.  Also, if you can post the wave times (I'm particularly interested in Clydes) that would be cool.

Yeah, post that swag list so I can decide if I need to bring my utility trailer or just rent a U-Haul when I get there.

Yes please post. My boss Francis is on here time to time and will be racing as well. We will be there at packet pick up on Saturday and Subway for lunch. I will be the big Clydesdale wearing a white Austin Tri-Cyclist t-shirt and black NFL hat.

We are hitting the road around 1:30 from Dallas tomorrow and I hope to be belly up to a poker table by 7.

Look forward to meeting everyone...finally.
