IM brand?  No

IM distances yes.  Whitelake 70.3 for me and the wife.  Maybe B2B depending on my marathon plans for fall.

I'm doing Eagleman in June and B2B in November.  Outside shot I might do Florida 70.3 in May.

Augusta is a great race and had a lot of town support last year and nothing beats swimming in that current.

I will see how I do in 70.3 Florida and then sign up for Augusta and since the B2B is in my town I might do it too.

Doing Germany 70.3 in the summer. Have to keep motivated through this cold winter and come out of it with a good base.

See everyone at Augusta.  I'm curious how the crowds and race support compares between the IM brand races and Setup's.

Augusta is a very well run race especially considering it was its first year.  They had wetsuit strippers (not normally seen at HIMs), good amount of stations along bike and run, and well organized.

The crowds along the run were also impressive.  It seemed like the town really supported the race.

louiskie - 2010-01-27 5:44 PM My Q is why do you care if it is ironman branded?

I think it’s the reputation of Ironman that makes the difference. Plus, they are just so much more fun!

Having never done one (an Ironman event- I have done other events though), why do you say they are more fun? Is it that they are typically larger? Better organized? Clowns? :-) I'm actually serious though - what is the major difference between, say, Beach to Battleship (which was rated one of the top 10 iron distance races in the country in triathlon magazine but is not a branded ironman) and IM-something-boring-sounding like IM Kansas.
