pc007 - 2010-03-03 4:35 PM Don't you mean to ask if it's okay to lead the pack in all of your aerodynamic greatness?  I was told that I'd want to keep my road bike and only ride my tri bike in races, but I got rid of the Trek because my Cervelo is so comfortable and fast that I ride it all the time.  If people don't want to ride with someone on their tri bike, it's probably because they don't want to be passed.

Ha, I'm thinking I need to go behind everyone, so that when I fall, theres nobody around to see it

well.....I neglected to mention that when I first switched to the tri bike, I did have one shattered clavicle to show for it.  She responds a little quicker than I was used to.

My wife is still learning also.  It would be great if you guys could come Sunday.   She would have someone to ride with.

Anyone who wants to meet up Sunday let me know and we can try and get a time together.  If pc007's wife goes that will keep my wife riding and we can head out of the park for a long ride otherwise I will probably ride the loop inside the park twice.  I think one loop is around 18 miles.  The more people, the more fun.

Someone said the vulcan tri club rides on tuesday pm.  What time do they usually meet up once the time changes?

Keep me posted.  Depending on the time, I may be interested Sunday.  I'll be the slow one on the road bike in the back, trailing behind everyone.  Just threw my aerobars on last week....

The Vulcan Triathletes have the Fanny Freeze event this weekend it seems.

Here is the website link:   http://www.vulcantri.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

They generally have a calendar with information on rides, runs, etc.  Is anyone a member of the club?  I've thought about it.

I am.  I joined later last year, but never was able to get to any of their planned workouts (well, I went to one where noone showed).  Thinking of going to their thing this weekend just to meet some folks.

But this last week I did win a gift card for their points race thing.  So right now I like them a lot. ;-)

That I do remember - they met at 5:30 and if I recall correctly they did a ~30 mile ride.

They meet at 5:30 at the old Colonial Bank (now BB&T) in Homewood, just below the Y. The tuesday night ride is roughly 30mi too.

Here's the course: http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/al/birmingham/317125122279342143

I'd actually love to do the Fanny Freeze, but alas, haven't planned for it, unfortunately. Maybe Sunday afternoon, if there's a group going, I'll be happy to meet up at Oak Mtn for a ride though, and yes 1 loop is ~18mi.

Someone should start a Thread for the Oak Mtn Sunday ride.

Depending on if anyone wants to throw a time out there I think around 11:30 or so sounds good.  You guys let me know.

I thought about joining also just to meet people.  I probably will check into it.

I'll try. Honestly, a little later would work better, but I'll definitely try for 11:30. If there's a change, I'll add it here.

I plan on riding two loops and maybe doing a short run.  I think pc007 is going to get there around 1330 or so.  I ususally park in the very last parking lot on the right past the paddle boats.  Hope to see some of you guys there.   Maybe we can plan some early morning rides on saturday.

Someone make some plans and I will be there.

Sounds good!   I ride with a group that will be doing a few long rides coming up before the Gulf Coast in May.  I will post when we do those and maybe we could get a large group. We usually ride just a few minutes north of Birmingham.

Several of us will be riding again sunday afternoon.  Probably will be north of birmingham in the gardendale area.  You are more than welcome to come.  I will let you know of the time and place when we get it figured out.

I come down to Dauphin Island quite often. I have a place I can stay down there and it is so peaceful. It is also a great place to train!

I love it on the island. It is a great place to live and train. It is a bit of a drive into Mobile everyday for work, but it is worth it. The hard part about biking on the island is the wind, but the roads are pretty good and the traffic is light most days.

Prattville huh? Not too far from my old stomping ground - Montgomery.

You aren't by chance a part of the River Region Runners are you?
