Anyone planing on doing this race?

http://www.active.com/triathlon/lawrenceville-ga/tri2remember-super-sprint-collins-hill-2010

I know it's a short race but what a great way to freshen up from the off season....

I've ran there a few times it's a real nice shady path, no traffic to deal with. Bike course should be a breeze, nice and flat.

My wife and Brother in law plan to do this race. It will be their first one and I think this will be a perfect race for them to start out with. They love the idea of the pool swim.

My son probably will do this race, I'm still undecided myself. I'm not sure how flat the bike course will be there are no maps yet and there are a few hills around there. The run should be rolling I assume, I have ran there several times and swim there also. Still it is a short race so it would be a good early race for someone without a wetsuit.

How do the pool swims work?  Do you use lanes and just let 2-3 people in a lane at once?  I'm not a big fan of a bunch of people together in a pool (ocean and lake doesn't bother me though).

I'd be interested but I have to find out when my girlfriend's graduation is.  I think it is around that time period and she wouldn't be too pleased if I skipped it for a race.

usually, you start from one side of the pool and go up and down the lanes (crossing over at the end) until you reach the end of the pool... Time trial start obviously....

Yes you will start Time Trial style in one lane, swim down and cross under the rope and come back down the next lane and so on working your way down the pool. I raced one before like this and it's nice not having to deal with the congestion of a open water swim.

It's a great bike course.  The area has some rolling hills but nothing steep by any means.  Let me know if you have any questions on the course and race.  I am helping them set up!

Can you post a link to the actual bike and run routes?  I am also interested in this super sprint but according to the website it says major hills on the bike and run.  Of course, major hills to some are flats to others so a map would be helpful.

Thanks!

I just signed up for this Super Sprint Triathlon to try and get my feet wet for the season.  It is short and sweet just what I need to get back in the swing of tri-ing.  I've never been to Collins Hill in Lawrenceville but plan on going to check it out this weekend.

I've only swam in the lake but since I don't have a wet suit the pool sounds like a good idea to me.  I'm not sure how it works, I think I'll email the director and find out.

Good idea on your date check that conflict would never work out!

Bye for now.

Here is the bike course link for mapmyride.  We will have a dedicated lane on Ga20 for everyones safety and plenty of officers on the course controlling traffic.

The run course is two laps around the Aquatic Center on a shaded paved trail.  It will be well marked and have an aid station appropriately placed.

The pool will be a time trial start.  Since I'm relatively new to this sport I did not know what time trial start meant, so I found out.  When you register for this race you have to give your estimate swim completion time.  Then you will be lined up to enter the pool accordingly, from fastest to slowest.  Does this make since?

I saw the bike map.  I don't know if I'd call that bike route very flat.  I'm pretty sure from the start and until the monkeys it'll be uphill.  I also think from the school between the top and bottom of Azalae dr to Russel Road is a fairly long uphill.

Either way I'm sure I'll do this one.

I rode and ran the course this morning.  I think everyone will like it.  It is fast but still has a challenge aspect to it.

I plan to do this race. I agree, it's a great way to get to get the season started. This is my second year as a triathlete and am signed up to do my first Olympic in July at Chattanooga.

Hmm, I wasn't originally planning on participating, but seeing how short it actually is, I think I could handle it. I've already got the swim and the run down, it's just the bike I'd need to work on.

I am signed up for this race.....However, I just got an email stating it might be cancelled do to low turnout...if you are close to signing up....pull the trigger!!!!!!  They said they need 100 entries in the next few days to keep it ALIVE.  =)

I was considering this as a practice run before my "first" triathlon on May 15, the Turtle Crawl.  So, I just signed up.  This will let me see what transitions are like and I will not be such a newbie at the one on Jekyll Island.

Ugh, I don't get paid until next Friday AND I'm currently injured, so I dunno if I'll be able to sign up in time. I hope they don't cancel it.

Just talked to the race director.  The race will not be canceled but they still need more participants to raise money for a cure for Alzheimer's.  That is their main goal!
