SAWFISH50 - 2010-03-25 10:49 PM Neither the rowing machine is a torture device LOL!

If you think rows are torture try fish burns! When you're done your arms feel like they're made of lead!

use an erg the way its supposed to be used, and you'll never think triathlon is painful again.

I rowed back in college in a lightweight boat and the erg is just the most updated instrument from the Spanish Inquisition. Hurling into a trashcan was a daily activity. And the winter training, doing 100k and the like, ohh makes me freak out even now!
As for the people in the gym it kills me to watch the chain wobble all around and see the hands over the knees on both the drive and recovery.  I try to put in one erg session a week to help with cardio and to work the major muscle groups through differ motion.  But I am really new to this tri game…… but crew was quite painful at times…..Surprised

I second the above.....I rowed on the Auburn Club team in college and learned to hate....Hate....HATE...the Erg! But it is a great workout. I picked up an old concept II a year or so back thinking I would get back into it....but can count on both hands the number of times I have used it. I have started back these last few weeks trying to incorporate at least one short sessions a week to help with some core muscles.
